After breakfast, Steve told Jade to bundle up. He had a surprise. He watched as she dressed as warm as she could, two layers of pants, a tee shirt, and sweater, then told him she was ready to go.
"How many pairs of socks do you have on?" he asked, looking down at her stocking feet. Her boots were beside the door, she"d put them on on the way out.
"One," she frowned, confused.
"Hang on." He disappeared into the bedroom and came back with a pair of bulky socks in one hand. "Here, put these on too. They"re wool, they"ll keep your feet warmer than plain cotton, even two layers of it."
