Chapter 2: See again

“Is it you, Elizabeth?” Robert frowned at her.

“Yes?!.” Elizabeth was a little embarrassed to answer, her chest heaving uncomfortably. Her stomach felt like something was stabbing it, it was really frustrating.

“Why are you here?” Robert questioned Elizabeth.

“Then why are you here?” Elizabeth took; confidently asked Robert back.

“I’m here for business. I don’t think you came here for the same reason as me?”

“Of course not, I don’t have a high-ranking position like you. I came here to have fun.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Thoughts are yours, I can’t control them. It’s up to you what you want to think.”

“I see that you came here for the purpose of approaching others.”

“I’m sure that ‘other’ is not you.”

Romanoff found the situation too stressful, so she rushed to relieve it: “Hi Robert, we’re just here to see you. Our lives since two years ago have been very joyful and rich. It’s not uncommon for us to go to places like this to have fun.”

“I hope I never see you again.” Robert basically didn’t want to see Elizabeth again. The one who left him when his project was nearing completion.

“Robert Downey and Mrs. Askin’s house. The house is being rebuilt.”

Elizabeth’s gaze landed on her ex-husband’s house, which was being demolished to be replaced by a new one.

“Are they going to move here?” Elizabeth momentarily could not believe her eyes, turned to ask her mother.

“Yes, everyone says so. I heard that Askin came over this morning to supervise the dismantling process.”

Like a thunderclap in her ears, her ex-husband’s family prospered and returned to the old village to live. Or Mrs. Askin intends to come to face her family.

The ex-husband is already rich, why not buy a million-dollar house to live in the city, isn’t there a lot of beautiful houses in the city that everyone desires?

Why did their family want to return to this village?

“Your ex-husband is now a millionaire. I feel like their family moved here to show it off to everyone.” Elizabeth’s brother, Nico, broke down.

“Mom, what are you doing here?” Robert came from afar. He came and stood beside his mother.

When Elizabeth saw Robert, he felt familiar. Now he was more handsome and well-mannered than before. Last night when she and he met at the party, all kinds of lights enveloped everyone. So she couldn’t see his facial features clearly.

But now, the sun is shining everywhere, the sunlight running through his face makes his face even more clear.

He was still the same, but there was no longer any relationship between him and Elizabeth.

“Mom came here to see how far our house was going and happened to run into Elizabeth on her way to work.” Mrs. Askin saw her son and smiled.

“Hello, Mr. Robert. Do you have time to visit your old home today?” Elizabeth politely greeted.

“My house is being rebuilt. I just came here to see how it goes.” Robert’s eyes were very serious.

“I think we should see each other less in the future, for the good of both.”

“My house I like was rebuilt, but my mother is here, not me.”

“Elizabeth, now that you have nothing to do with my son, it is best to stay away from him as much as possible. You won’t get a dime from my son’s estate.” Mrs. Askin revealed her true face again.

“You’re old too, Mrs. Askin. Thinking too much isn’t good for your heart. Your children’s property. You leave it there and hug it back to God, but I don’t want to.”

Elizabeth could no longer look at Mrs. Askin’s face. She greeted her and continued to work.

She and Mrs. Askin used to have a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationship, but that relationship was not very good. Every vacation of Robert’s she wants Robert to take her on a trip, not giving her any private time with Robert. She had long disliked her, her marriage to Robert was also unpopular with her, and many times she advised Robert to divorce Elizabeth.

Gradually the relationship between Elizabeth and Mrs. Askin got worse and worse, neither of them gave up. Now that she and Robert are divorced, she doesn’t see Mrs. Askin as her mother-in-law anymore, so she makes fun of her at will.

As soon as she arrived at the office, she received a notice of a change of work address. Her new job address is Robert’s company.
