Escape

The demon was for all intents and purposed a minotaur with tentacles for hair. Fangs the size of electric poles poked out of its mouth and its red eyes were extremely eerie. Its entire body occupied the entire arena, but the problem was that only half of that body was outside of the portal. But even with the half that was outside, the barrier was already glowing and shooting earth spikes at the demon due to how close in proximity they were to each other. However they all just broke off harmlessly on its skin, like they were nothing more than bullets from a toy gun. Behind him Lilith did not waste anytime as she encased her only hand in diamond, and her palms began to glow red from the heat. She sliced her hand at the gate, and the entire metallic structure gave way like it was made of paper. They all ran into the waiting area for the gladiators, everyone was running around panicked while others were paralyzed with shock by the appearance of the demon. There was a loud crash behind them as the demon broke past the barrier. Then it focused itself on picking and eating every spectator that had the misfortune of crossing its sight. David could not say he felt sorry for them though. As they ran towards the elevator, there was already a bunch of other prisoners struggling to leave by it. However, there were guards standing there and blocking the path of the prisoners. Four of the guards had weapons David recognized, weapons that belonged to him. “What are you doing?” Lilith shouted in surprise as David ran past her, murder in his eyes. First of all they stole his things, even though he was sure those idiots will not be able to get into the security pass lock for his hover bike, he was skeptical considering Evans knew there was a staff in the bike. But until he finds his hover bike, he really wouldn’t know at all, but for the weapons that were on him when he was captured, and currently being worn by a quad of guards who would be very much dead in the next thirty seconds, He would not let anybody touch unless he allowed them. One of he guards was holding the shot gun, which was a pair and was also a family heirloom. One, the last of the Yizart 66 elephant series, the other was holding his modified hand gun, and the last had his filthy hands on David’s battle blade. But all four of his weapons, excluding the two daggers, oh wait there they were hanging off the guy with the battle blade. David was much too angry to really notice that it was too much of a coincidence for all his weapons to be in the same place at the same time. But right now David was working under the pressure of the demon behind him, much like many of the prisoners here. David ran towards the guard with the handgun, moving with a singular focus as if he could not be bothered by anything else. The guard noticed David in time to aim and fire his gun. However David ducked down letting hot bolt of burning plasma fly over his head. The smell of burning flesh filled the waiting area as David shifted the hand of the guard, and with the now familiar heaviness of his body centered around his forehead, David head-butted the guard. There was a crack and a spray of blood as the guard’s skull was crushed from the impact. But he was ignored as David grabbed the gun and shifted it’s level from stun, to kill. The other guards were a little preoccupied with the other prisoners, so it was nothing much for David to raise his handgun and start picking them out, one by one. The first shot completely burnt the head of the person holding the shot gun to a crisp, the scent of roasted meat was now even more perceivable in the air. David threw the shotgun to Lilith, then he ducked under the swing of the person who was using his battle blade in axe form. Just like Minerva's father a few minutes ago, the guard over extended, which left him open enough for David to grab him by the neck, and turn him to face the incoming hail of bullets from his partner. The guards body shook fiercely as his partner turned his body into a sieve. David still holding on to the guards body, raised him up In a show of strength he has not been able to display before today. Then with a strained movement, he threw the corpse at his friend. Both men, the dead and the soon to be dead man, fell down like a sack of potatoes. It left the last guard vulnerable enough for David to pick up his assault rifle. Then in the ultimate show of nonchalance, he pointed the rifle at the downed man, and pulled the trigger. There was a spit of fire as bullets rained down on the last guard, then David turned without even caring whether he was dead or not, which to be quite honest should be a positive confirmation. David removed the remaining weapons and their holsters from the dead body of the guards, he hung the battle blade and daggers over his back, even if the battle blade was just a seven inch metal tube, it was quite dangerous. Then he turned to Lilith who was still holding on to a shell shocked Minerva and said to her, “Let’s get out of here.” A nod was all the confirmation he needed as all three boarded the elevator, while the other fighters watched on in fright and surprise at the sudden turn of events, not knowing that the demon was drawing closer by the minute. When the elevator stopped at the level where their cell was, David ran out, Lilith was protesting behind him, asking where he was running off to, but David did not answer. He made his way back to their cell, while occasionally staring at the demon below him. It seems as if the demon was still stuck as the portal was not a wide enough fit for it to get out. So it squeezed its body, allowing countless smaller demons to slip out. From his vantage point, it was quite a sight. David had no idea how demon’s were categorized on Pangea, in fact until Lilith mentioned the platform was a summoning circle, David had no idea about the world of demons, even though it was a part of Pangea. First it was the apocalypse with giant tsunamis and giant monster animals, now they had demons running around. At that moment David wished for the days were things were simple, for the world were things were understandable. Contrary to the belief of a lot of people, going through the wardrobe does not bring you to a land where you have to defeat the wicked witch and become the high king or queen. No…..it drops you smack dab in the middle of the most complicated existential crisis ever documented, with a vindictive giant lizard after you, and a demon the size of king Kong eating the people you hate(hmm, it might not be so bad after all). But you had to take the good with the bad. David ran into his cell and was stumped by the sight in front of him. Veni was looking very different, her blue shell had turned black, In fact, it was no longer there at all. What he was currently looking at, was bipedal tortoise, that now looked more like a lizard woman. Maybe the proper word would be lizard girl since she wasn’t any higher than four foot tall. The entire cell room was in disarray, as everything had already been eaten or chewed beyond comprehension. But the most shocking of them all was the Ionite Array, it was chewed beyond recognition and the Ionite placed within was without a doubt currently sitting in Veni's stomach. “What did you do?” David asked, with the most harshest voice he could muster. But all the little tortoise…..err well lizardtoise or something like that, Could do was bend her head down like a kid who was caught with her hands in the kitchen pot, scrounging for some meat. “Alright let’s go, we need to find your brothers. Can you lead me to them.” With an enthusiastic exuberance, she nodded her horned head many times in a second. She shot out of the cell room so fast, David found it a little bit difficult to keep up with her. It was obvious that she had evolved, but David was worried about the Ionite she had ingested. She and her brothers were special in a way that David had rarely seen in any living thing. They could assimilate the properties of any metal the ate. It was why their shells were always a metallic blue, even though David knew there was no metal that was blue in color. When David got to the elevator, Veni was already hugging a startled Lilith while Minerva hung at a corner of the elevator scared of the short tailed, horned head, blacked eyed, pupiless, humanoid lizard, that was for all intents and purposes……naked. “David is this your pet tortoise?” Lilith asked, with a rather dangerous tint to her tone, but David ignored her as he just preferred to answer quickly and get the hell out of here. “Yeah that’s Veni…….I think.” “What did you do, you idiot.” David felt wronged. Very very wronged. “But I didn’t do anything, this was all her doing. She was the one who ate Ionite not me. And I never told her to do so either.” “Are you kidding me right now?” “Yes,……err no, I mean no.” “You’re so irresponsible.” “Screeeeeeech!!” Their impromptu argument was cut short, when an owl like demon with a mouth on its chest began to fly towards them. David raised the assault rifle and squeezed. The ensuing crash made by the demon as it crashed to their feet, shook the elevator a little. “Soooo, maybe we should get the hell out of here and continue this argument later.” David suggested. “That seems like a good Idea.” And then they all huddled into the elevator, and went up to the top of the volcano. As the Elevator went up, David marveled at his marksmanship, strangely he seemed to have come a long way from the first time he fired a gun, back on Victoria island. He missed though, but he seemed to have gotten better, he had shot that owl through the head at thirty feet away. It made him feel good about himself. As the Elevator went out of the arena, the screams of those left behind seemed to resound and explode out of it. Their cries of torture and pain shook the very foundations of the volcano itself. Summoning circles without a Mana user of any class maintaining it was bound to get destabilized and close eventually. But no one knew when this circle will close, after all it was activated by the blood of countless innocent people, and if it was not for that huge demon stupidly plugging the hole with it’s own body, then they all would have been pretty dead. As they left the arena, watching the deaths happening below them, David could not help but thank this accursed place for the decisiveness and blood thirsty personality it had bred in him. Because with the rate the Pangea was changing right now, the Monster within would be very much needed.
