As we worked our way down the hallway, I could hear loud foot steps coming up from behind and was concerned that if I went for a kill I might hit our friendly but then I remembered that his note said to kill on sight so he wouldn't be doing anything to make me think I needed to kill him and he seemed to know a great deal 9f my training if not know about me in general. As I got myself in position I saw a very large man coming straight at us with long bladed daggers sticking out of a chest plate he was wearing. A knife came flying from behind me and it went into his shoulder and he wailed in pain around the same time that my arrows flew into his eye balls one at a time. He fell to the floor and his hand almost reached my foot. That was to close, I couldn't do that again, it was time to move and fast.
I had a feeling that after I took one of her assassins out she would figure out where I was so I didn't want to be here much longer. As we moved along the hallway we hadn't seen any doors for a while but the hallway would get wider and thinner or we'd have an over view of a pond and get to sit and watch turtles until I said it was time to get going again.
When finally found a door I wasn't sure if I wanted to open it or not and when I backed up and looked at it funny Drew came forward and walked right into the unknown. We followed and as we looked around we wondered how we got transported into a royal castle.
We couldn't hardly believe that it was a possibility but what else would this be? I felt like it was a duplicate or maybe just someone else's mansion because there was no one here at all, what was I suppose to do now? The whole place is emaculantly clean so the fact that no one was here really made no sense to me at all. It was like they had been evacuated or something.
I guess this could be one of those times when we might have to fight our way out of here but I'm hoping that we've just gotten here at a good time or someone else already dealt with the traps awaiting us here. Then again we did come in through a secret passageway that we had no clue existed or that it lead here at all. Our friend had to of known though so maybe he'll be here....
I don't know who this ladies designer is but I love the style of everything to do with this place, I'm going to need to snag some of the building ideas for myself when I get out of here. My land could really use some updates and the weaving on these tapestries are emaculate.
As I thought, I noticed movement and then someone came at me fast and covered all of us with a blanket making us walk with them slowly.
"You can't go this way, I'll show you a better path." I looked at him questioningly and he smirked. "You probably won't ever figure out who I am but your daughter is the true heir to this property and I want to help you save her before Linda realizes who she has."
"She has my daughter?" I stopped dead in my tracks, "Where are they, my mother must be worried sick...."
"I broke out to help you because of them, I couldn't believe you would have just left like you did without a reason and she's the sweetest little girl you could have ever raised. I understand why you left us now. She wouldn't be who she is now if you would have stayed, he would have made sure she was an anchor on you not a blessing." he had been looking into my eyes but it felt like my soul was begging to remember who he was. "Let's go, we'll figure out how to save them but we have to get somewhere safe first, you killed the henchman right?"
"I had no choice so yes, he's probably still laying in the hallway that you sent us down. I've done my job, we're still all four alive right?" he laughed and then lead us down a hallway that hadn't been visible a moment ago, "You're going to tell me who you are at some point, right?" I questioned him, "it's been 7 years since I've seen any of you, I have names that don't match memories and now you and I think I know who you are but a name would help."
"These two wouldn't know anyone's names because when you vanished the whole family got up rooted and all of our names got changed but that will have to be a story for when we find some sanctuary because we're being followed. Get the kids between us so we don't get caught off guard." he said.
"I'm pretty good at defending myself Uncle Dexter.... just ask Aunt Abigail.... oh sorry I mean Kitty..." Abby blurt out, a bit hurt and annoyed that he would act the way he was.
"He's only thinking of your safety sweetheart, I know you've been doing really well with our mishaps. Lead the way Abby, Dexter can cover us both, you've got this." he glared at me but Abby was excited.
"How do you know her name?" he asked Abby.
"Because I already figured out who she is and my real name is Lily, by the way, so don't start treating me like a little kid. We both know that my parents never hid the truth from me and I was informed on why I was named Abby as my new name." she was extremely annoyed by his treatment towards her and I started to think she was a little royal child.
"She's family and trained like one isn't she?" I directed my question to Dexter.
"Yes, even though she wasn't supposed to be, I've been against all this nonsense my whole life." Dexter replied.
"It's going to come in handy though so let her show her skills and stay out of her way if you don't have to, she's got this. What about Andrew?" I asked Dexter.
"Drew isn't trained in fighting but I'm sure he'll learn fast, his parents taught him foraging out doors, animals, food and water sources, maps, hiding in plain sight, things like that... the dog is his protection. I'll fill you in on me and him later......" I couldn't hear anything but heavy foot steps now and then I saw a bright flash of light and Dexter jumped in the air to kick a guy in all black straight in his face, sending him down the hallway we had come from and knocking into others heading our way. As I got my cross bow ready to fire he lit my tip and it flew into the air lighting dried roots along the ceiling on fire and raining all over those following us forcing them to stopping coming any closer.
"Are we almost to our destination?" I was curious after walking at least twenty minutes with assailants tracking us.
"I can find us a way out of here if that's what you'd like? Your mother and daughter were moved to a new location with Linda after I escaped, you know... when you saw me at the waterfall, I had been looking for them and I finally found out that they're on the far cliff on the other side of this property but I've only seen through windows. I still need to figure out how to get in unnoticed."
"That's good enough for me, let's go."
