Madam Q’s POV
Inside Madam Q's office, Madam Q is pacing slightly, fuelled by momentum, a subtle intake of air, her eyes squinting slightly, jaw clipped, and a tiny crease between her eyebrows. (As she wallows in deep thought)
Liam is not competent to run the company alone. Although he’s of age as a young, promising, good-looking man who commands power and respect with his words. However, he is not intelligent and smart enough to run O&G Multinational alone if I retire.
He needs to marry someone who is “intelligent and smart”, not some crazy b***h who will want to leech on him and milk dry the company Harper and I have built these past years with our blood and sweat. I don't care about her status, so long as she's “intelligent and smart” enough to help Liam run the company and keep the family legacy alive. That's all I asked!
After having a long thought on this, Madam Q had to leave the office early that day. She asked her P.A., “Lucas”, to reschedule all her appointments and meetings for that day, while she returned home to have a conversation with her son “Liam” and tell him about her take on this topic they have been having for the longest, which Liam has always paid a deaf ear to.
Madam Q returned to their beautiful mansion and asked one of her maids to get her son (Liam) immediately. Which the maid quickly did, while Madam Q returned to her room, while she awaits Liam. A minute later Liam came to meet his mum, who was already tossing around in her room when Liam walked in.
“Hey Mum! What's wrong?
Have a seat, Son! Liam sat down.
I love you, son, and I want the best for you. The pressure, workload, and meetings at the office and the company combined are too much on me. I'm old and getting weak by the day, and the doctor advises I get as much rest as I can as part of living healthy.
You need to get yourself a wife so you can ascertain the C.E.O. position. I don't care about her status, her family background, her accomplishments – name it! Or whatever, I only want someone with great potential, someone who is “intelligent and smart” enough to support and guide you in running the affairs of the company. That's all! And I'm okay with it.
Liam only replied, 'Alright, Mum!'
Madam Q has had this big deal she has been chasing for a month now. One morning she arrived at her office. Get settled, and she was going through her mail. When an email popped up concerning the business deal, asking her to draft a “pitch” for reviewing, she had just 5 working days as the duration.
I know a lot of “big” companies have been on this same deal. Therefore, the “pitch” needs to be something fascinating. In addition, I need to compile ideas that can get them hooked and intrigued. To help me obtain the contract.
Lucas! Lucas!! She calls.
Yes! Madam Q, He answers immediately.
Lucas! I need you to draft me a good** – I mean, “the best pitch ever” – for me. 'You have a duration of 3 days to present it to me, so please get to work immediately,' she added.
'Alright, Madam Q!' he replied.
He quickly turns to leave her office while he is just about to open the door.
With a “fierce” look on her face.
Lucas! This is a “big deal” for me and a “big win” for O&G multinationals.
I worked so hard for this, so please bring your “A game”; you may get to work immediately.
I’ll try my best, Madam Q!
The next morning! Lucas arrives at the office early, and he tries drafting out the pitch Madam Q has assigned him to.
Olivia had arrived earlier than Lucas. While she sets up the office and awaits their arrival.
Immediately after she finished her job description, she quickly returned the cleaning equipment to its rightful spots as she headed straight to Lucas’s office to ask him if she could help him with anything else.
He ignored her at first, then she repeated her question the second time, and Lucas vented all his frustration on Olivia without hesitation. As a reply to her question. Since he couldn’t come up with something good enough for a pitch.
Olivia quickly said, 'I'm sorry, sir!' and left quietly.
It was noon! Lunchtime. Olivia went to grab lunch for a few staff at the canteen who couldn’t make it to lunch. Due to the fact that Madam Q was around, she does not tolerate incompetence. Most of the staff have a lot of unfinished tasks on their table, and time is not in their favour.
Immediately, Olivia left for the canteen a few minutes ago. Liam and his driver drove in; Liam went straight to meet with his mum at her office. Then she mentioned to Liam about the pitch. During their conversation. Therefore, she needs to come up with something fascinating to win the contract, plus she has just 4 days left in the duration.
Liam knew how long his mum had been chasing this contract and what it meant for their company too.
In my opinion, how about we pay someone to draft us a good pitch? (He opted)
I don’t mind if you can get me a good pitcher.
I’ll try.
Liam pecked his mom on her cheek as he bid her goodbye!
Olivia was already on her way back when she coincidentally met Liam at the parking unit (she reluctantly greeted him).
“Good day.”
Liam did not answer as he entered the back seat of the car, and they drove off…
He might be a mere business partner, perhaps an intending business partner that shares a mutual relationship with Madam Q. That's acting like he owns this company. Anyway, why do I care!” She muttered to herself as she walked away. ”
Olivia never bothered asking, 'What's his relationship with Madam Q and the company?' or 'What is his name, either.
