Chapter Six: How It Started

496 Words
Max and Daniel kept on practicing controlling their spirit animals for a long period of time, and the more they practiced, the better they got. Recognizing the signs of an emerging threat closing in on his position, Max composed himself, sharpened his focus, and prepared for the confrontation he knew could not be avoided. Daniel travels to a small town for the purpose of visiting his parents while Max deals with the unknown space dweller. He tracked the creature for days, hoping he would find it, but he didn’t find it in New York or even on Earth; he tracked its sound waves in space through satellites. He didn’t think that the creature being in space was a problem, but there was an incoming transmission from it. The creature happened to be a mutated massive Tardigrade-like creature with sharp armor-plated spines. From the look of it, the creature was created by someone, but Max didn’t record any human speech transmitting from the moon. He rented a NASA space suit and tried teleporting to the moon, but his range wasn't far enough. He couldn’t afford to rent a space shuttle, so he practiced his teleporting distance for a while. At one hundred kilometers per jump, the moon was still days away, each teleport bringing him closer through the silent expanse. When he made it, finding the creature was another problem, but he was careful, and he found the creature hibernating. He rushed into action and tried to summon his animals, but due to the no-oxygen rule in space, they didn’t spawn. The creature knocked him down, but Max didn’t give up. He went invisible and punched it a few times, but since Max didn’t have any range abilities like Daniel’s fireballs, it was hard to damage it. The creature got too disturbed, so it dosed Max with radiation, but he teleported away from it. He tried, but the more effort he put into damaging it, the more radiation was exposed, and unfortunately the suit couldn’t handle that much radiation. Before Max went unconscious, he shot the creature with a tranquilizing syrup, making it weak for a few hours. Daniel became worried about his brother’s disappearance, but he trusted him. He was busy at his parents’ house helping his mom get around due to her paralysis in her legs. The mutant Tardigrade wasn’t the only threat; there were more creatures. The creatures tracked Daniel’s location, uncovering his identity to his parents. Daniel fought them for a while, but he couldn’t hold them off by himself, so he spawned in his firefly to deal with them. Some of the mutant creatures managed to get into range of his parents. Trying to defend himself and his wife. He was quite eager to kill them. Daniel couldn’t be of any help as he was being ambushed by the creatures. He blasted them so hard that they exploded, and quickly took his mom to the hospital as she was in fatal condition.
