Chapter 8: Aoife

1655 Words
Honey gold eyes stared up at the blank ceiling tiredly. Running a hand over her face, she exhales a slow, long sigh.  She could already tell there's black circles under her eyes. "Jeez, what's kept you up?" Aoife asked. Novah shrugs as she rolled over, staring at the big red numbers. 7:18 A.M. She hated nights like this and it was all because of a certain demon and her powers. "Hey, you wanted to win that battle! That's on you too!" Aoife huffed, feeling her human's annoyance. "I know, but I wish the stupid tournament was on a Friday instead of Thursday. Like, who plans it that way?" Novah complained, pulling the blanket over her head. If she didn't get out of bed soon, her mother was going to drop a bucket of ice water on her….that was the last thing she needed. An idea forms in her head. "Hey, Aoife…" Novah says in a coy voice. She could feel her fox roll her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, yeeaahh. I'm on it." Novah inhales as she's thrust into her inner world, the green threshold made her instantly relax. The redhead laid on her back, already feeling the effects. Something stood over her and she looked up into Aoife's gold eyes. "I'm totally going to wreak Havoc." Too tired to argue, Novah yawns and closes her eyes. " Just try not to kill anyone like last time." She heard her fox scoff.  "That dickhead deserved it." Novah didn't respond. Aoife's p.o.v. Aoife stares down at her human and hums fondly, leaning down and running a hand through the soft red curls. She closed her eyes and suddenly felt heavy. Opening her eyes, she notes that she's Novah's room and frowns at the tightness around her eyes and the heavy feeling all over. She stretched, feeling her bones crack as well as the loud pops. She groaned, feeling the alleviation of the tension in Novah’s body, leaving a pleasant tingle.  Her human really was tired… Leaning up, she summoned some magic and pressed her fingertips to her temple, instantly feeling rejuvenated and smiled. Jumping out of the bed she stretched and went to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, she winces at the wild bush of red hair, noting the length grew from the shift, and instantly reached for the scissors. 'Hmm, I'm pretty sure Novah was going to do the same thing.' Taking a strand of hair, she held the blade until it was a few inches from her scalp and snipped. She continued to do so until her hair was a puffball. Moving to the shower, she turned the knob until it was at its hottest setting and waited, watching the steam slowly startup before jumping in and took a quick shower, enjoying the heat. Once she finished, she stepped out and shook her head, admiring the cute, clean curls, and nodded. 'Not bad!'  Taking the towel, she raced back to Novah's room and went to the closet, tsking at her human's choice of fashion before digging around for the clothes she knew were placed in the near back, her Novah stating it's 'too scandalous for her tastes'. Rolling her eyes, she pulled out a soft but thick, maroon sweater dress and placed it on. Aoife smiles as she admires the way the dress hugs her figure before digging deeper into the closet and pulls out a pair of fishnets and tries her best to put them on, her toes getting caught through the many holes in the stockings. 'For such amazing results, they sure make it impossible to get it on!' Aoife thought. When she finally got them on, wincing when she saw the tears, but it wasn't too bad to discard them. It actually kind of looked stylish in her opinion. Looking into the mirror, she nods before walking to the edge of Novah's bed, her combat boots tossed carelessly from the other day. She puts them on and leaves the room to the bathroom. Quickly brushing her teeth she leaves to the kitchen where her human's parents were.  'Good morning my little bambin-, Ah, my little Aoife! It's been a while!" Giulia starts before she notes the marking on her daughter's face, the smile never leaving her face when she realizes her daughter isn't there 'mentally'. Aoife smiles as she's hugged by the tall Italian woman before sitting at the table. She still didn't know what to feel. Even if her human's parents loved Aoife as their own, it was weird since she was just the demon side of Novah and not her own being. It still felt… nice. "Good morning, Giulia!" She said, taking a couple of bites of eggs and nibbled on some toast. Despite having control of her Novah's body, eating was not a fan favorite with her, but she needed to make sure her human's body was filled with nutrients. "My, I should have known it was you, Novah's taste in fashion is about as good as a dog!'' The tall woman said, poking her nose. Aoife snorts.  "Yeah, but I think a dog would know better than her." Aoife teases back. "Where's Artem?" "Off to the Packhouse to talk about a few things regarding the neighboring packs and the rogue problem. If you're still in control when you get home, you should be able to see him. I know he'd be happy to see you!" The brunette said cheerfully as she washed the pan on the sink. Aoife blushes and feels warmth in her chest.  She really did adore her human's parents. Spotting the jacket on the hook, she brightened before getting up from her seat. Grabbing the leather cloth, she turns to Giulia with a shy, cheeky smile. "You think he'd be mad if I took this?" Giulia winks and gives a coy smile with a shrug. "I'll simply tell him he misplaced it." The two females giggle in secrecy, both knowing the older Druid loved his jacket before Aoife places the jacket on, enjoying the Sandalwood scent. "I promise to bring it back in one piece!" The fox waves to the she-wolf before grabbing the satchel and walking out the door. Giulia watched from the window as her daughter's form dispersed in a shimmery gold cloud before smiling. Her daughter was so powerful. At that thought, she frowned. ‘Too powerful…’ She ignored the nasty feeling in her gut and continued cleaning up before she went to enjoy her day off.                                                                                 --- Aoife materialized a few meters from the school, ignoring the shocked looks of Novah’s classmates, smiling as she shook out her limbs. ‘We’ll have to tell Ila about the teleportation.’ she tells Novah. She shakes her head when she gets a snore in response. Walking towards the entrance, she takes a deep breath and holds her head up high. ‘Okay Aoife, it’s just a few hours. If my Novah can do it, so can I.’ And with that, she pushed through the double doors and walked in. Feeling the stares of the other students, she gave a half lazy smile. She turned her head on instinct, before the greeting came, at the smell of black cloves and cinnamon. “Aoife!! It’s been a while.’’ The curly-haired she-wolf said happily, practically jumping into Aoife”s arms, The fox wrapping her arms around her, ignoring the slight growls from the blonde teen. Aoife, wanting to find the amazing scent, sniffed a bit at the tiny wolf's hair and frowned a bit at the sea salt and caramel smell. “Hello...Nonni?’’ Aoife asked, uncertain. She remembered the girl, just not the name. “I apologize, it really has been a while.’’ The girl pulled back and gave a slight chuckle. “Close! It’s Joni, Like joee-nee.’’ Aoife smiled and nodded, suddenly remembering. There was a cleaning of the throat and the two girls looked at the group of people staring at them. Joni rolled her eyes and let the redhead go. She stood next to her, an arm wrapped around the taller redhead. “Guys, this is Aoife. Aoife, this is my mate Miles, Megan, Carla, Lillie, Killian, Beni and uhh....’’ Joni said, ending off in hesitation, unsure how to induct the two supposed mates. Aoife looked at everyone with a slightly interested look before landing on Theo. She squinted her eyes in feign scrutiny, feeling humorous. “You… you’re that kid…” Theo blinked in surprise before opening his mouth, but Aoife cut him off, snapping her fingers as if to say ‘Eureka!’. ‘I remember you now! You’re that cute alpha kid from the opposite pack I fought, Cairo!”  The group immediately froze, staring at Theo as his face grew dark, a deep rumble coming from his chest. Aoife smiled in mirth as the curly hair Alpha started shaking. “Yeah! Yeah! I swear you were all I was dreaming about  Last night. I couldn’t sleep at all!! I’m digging the black hair, though brown looks delicious in my opinion.’’ The negative energy that radiated off Theo made Aoife’s mouth water. Her mischief nature made her feel joyous at the misery coming from the Alpha. She kept a strong awed face that made Theo even angrier. Finally, she couldn’t keep it in as she burst out laughing, buckling over slightly as her bright laughter filled the hallway. She gave a cute, toothy smile before moving closer to him. She poked his nose, making a ‘boop’ noise, and stuck out her tongue slightly. “I’m just kidding. Hello Theo, my mate, according to your Goddess.’’ Aoife said as she backed away. Theo looked sick and furious at the same time. He grabs her forearm and pulls her close. She almost purrs, the smell of black cloves and cinnamon coming back ten times a fold. Theo's voice snapped her out of it. “We need to talk.”
