Chapter Seven - The Revelations

Pulling up to the main pack house of the Scarlet Moon Pack, the first thing that Amaranth noticed was how big it was. The house looked more like a castle than a house. It was elegant but also screamed power and old money. But what can you expect from the pack that was the home of the current queen. Alpha Damon had already made a name for himself before his daughter became the mate of the prince. The Scarlet Moon Pack is at times seen as an extension of the royal family, but Alpha Damon made sure that he and those under him remained humble.

Alpha Damon was standing outside on the front steps, waiting to greet and welcome the new Luna home. Dimitri parked the SVU parallel to the front of the house. Amaranth got out of the car, still admiring the house, as Cody let the dogs out from the back seat and they immediately went to her side. Omegas came out from the house to help get Amaranth's things from the car to take them inside. Amaranth slowly got over the shock of how the pack house looked, noticing Alpha Damon smiling at her.

"Welcome back Alpha and Beta. I am glad to see that your rescue mission was a success." Alpha Damon smirked. "Welcome to the Scarlet Moon Pack Amaranth, I hope this pack feels like home."

"Thank you Alpha Damon, I am happy to finally be here." Amaranth smiled as she approached Alpha Damon to enter the pack house.

Walking inside, Amaranth is greeted by a grand foyer, her eyes drawn towards the glass chandelier and staircase leading up to a balcony walkway. While she was looking around at her surroundings, Alpha Damon was beginning to lead her to her room when his attention was drawn to Dimitri, who was signaling him towards where the offices were. Making note of this, Damon led Amaranth towards the offices, with Dimitri and Cody in tow. Along the way, Amaranth was making note of many things. The way pack members smiled at her as she passed them. The way pack members smiled and greeted the Alphas and Beta, not out of fear but because they were genuinely happy to see them. The way the air feels clean and clear, not suffocating. The fact that, for the first time in years, she was walking through a pack house with no feelings of anxiety, with nothing to worry about.

There were enough rooms in this area of the pack house for there to be an office for Dimitri, Cody, Amaranth, and Alpha Damon. So, since it was Dimitri who signalled for a meeting, Alpha Damon led the others into Dimitri's office. His office was decorated with neutral tones, different shades of brown. His desk was farther into the room, closest to the windows, with two armchairs in front of it. There were two loveseats parallel to one another behind the armchairs, with a coffee table between them. Dimitri took his seat at his desk, watching as Amaranth took a seat in one of the armchairs, noting that they needed to order another desk chair for his office so that she could sit next to him in the future. Alpha Damon took a seat in the other armchair while Cody took a seat in the loveseat behind Amaranth, with Bella curling up next to him and Bruce sitting at Amaranth's feet.

"So, what could have happened during your rescue mission that was cause for a meeting?" Alpha Damon asked.

"On the drive back, Amaranth informed us that in the time she has been living in the Midnight Moon Pack, there had never been a rogue attack. That there are rarely any rogue sightings and if any, they were never hostile." Dimitri told his grandfather, whose eyebrows went up in surprise.

"Well, that would probably explain Alpha Michael ignoring the possibility of us not helping in the event of an attack with him not letting Amaranth leave his pack land." Damon concluded. "Is that revelation leading you to think that the agreement and marriage was for some other reason unknown to us?"

"Yes. I'm not sure what the real reason could be but there is definitely something going on here." Dimitri leaned back into his chair, rubbing his forehead. "It has to be a power play of some sort. He already showed that there are times where he'll have the upper hand by refusing to let Amaranth move here."

"I don't really understand though," Amaranth cut in, "How much power is he trying to get with him stepping down as alpha soon?"

"Oh yes, I believe the beta's son will be alpha?" Damon asked.

"Yes, Jacob and Melanie chose each other about a month after the wedding. Matty suspected that after seeing that the wedding was serious and it was me instead of her, Melanie decided to have some attention turned towards her and mate. Their inductions are scheduled for next month", Amaranth answered.

"I believe that we were invited to that. Some nerve your father has." Damon huffed, not missing how Amaranth cringed when he referred to Michael as her father.

"Well, we'll go to that. We'll play his game and seem unaware of any of the holes in his story. We'll seem unbothered by what he has done so far and anything that he decides to do in the future, unless he steps way over the line." Dimitri stated, sitting up and looking determined. "If it's a battle of wits that he wants to have, then we'll give it to him".

"Good to hear Alpha Dimitri. I'll leave you and Beta Cody to the work you need to get caught up on due to your training trip. And while you two are doing that, I will escort our lovely luna to her room and give her a tour of the grounds." Damon stood up from his seat with Amaranth following suit.

Dimitri gave his grandfather a nod, signaling that he was in agreement with what his grandfather had just said. Amaranth let out a soft whistle to attract Bella's attention, who was still lying on Cody's lap, and beckoned Bella to follow suit with Bruce, who was already by her side. As she was leaving through the office door, Amaranth turned to look over her shoulder back at Dimitri. She watched as Cody got up from the loveseat to sit in one of the armchairs. As her eyes connected with Dimitri's, he gave her a small smile. Returning the smile, Amaranth then turned around and continued to follow Damon out the door and into the hallway.
