Chapter 5

Now is the time....My palms are sweaty and I'm nervous about meeting so many people. I've only ever been around Emily and Beta Aden and there's over a hundred people I'm about to face. I pace back and forth nervously in the conference room. I have to overcome my fear, especially if i plan to leave tonight. I stand up straight and fix my dress, put my shoulders back and put on a confident face, walking out of the room. I walk down the hallway with only the mission on my mind. Reaching the end of the hallway, I only have to step out at the top of the steps. The Alpha is already standing there dressed in a gray suit with a blue tie. To be honest, he could have done better. The Alpha is a tall man standing at 6feet 5 inches, slightly shorter than Aden and not quite as broad. His hair is brown, matching his eyes and cut very short on the sides and slightly longer on the top. As I approach, he extends his hand for me to hold. I hesitantly accept his gesture and he pulls me to him and intertwines our arms and gives me a glance with lust feeling his eyes. The feeling of disgust makes an ugly appearance once again. We slowly descend the stairs and once we reach the bottom we're met with a large double oak door leading into a beautifully decorated ballroom. We stop for a brief moment and the Alpha turns to me with a stern look and says "Do not disappoint me". I nod and we enter through the doors and everyone stops and looks towards us. It must be because of the Alpha being beside me. Alpha Carter pulls me alongside him to meet all the other Alphas. I don't even pay attention to their names, my only thought is escaping. After meeting the alphas, alpha Carter let me go on my own. I made my way to the food table. There's an endless amount of small foods I have never seen before. Some seem like they shouldn't even be eaten, like these crackers with tiny little black balls on them. I just move on to the drinks and get some champagne. Alcohol doesn't affect wolves like it does humans, so the drinking age is sixteen for us. I walk over to a corner of the ballroom and watch as all the beautiful gowns flow across the dance floor. I firm hand touches my shoulder and i get startled out of my thoughts. A tall man with salt and pepper hair who looks to be in his late forties. He chuckles at me and asks me to dance. I think back to Alpha Carter and i don't want to " disappoint" before I'm even able to make our escape. So i take his offer and place my hand in his and let him lead me to the dance floor. I remember Alpha introducing me to this man, so he must also be an alpha, but I don't much remember who he is or anything about what was said. We start to move along with the instrumental music and he smiles and starts speaking to me. "My name is Alpha Jackson." I give a weak smile and respond "I'm Bree" and i give a slight bow out of respect. "Are you ready for tonight?" "I guess, I don't have much of a choice." He looks confused "I don't think you understand." he pauses for a second and glances around and looks back to me and whispers " I mean your plans with Beta Aden." I gasp and stand there shocked. How does he know about our plans? Has he told Alpha Carter? Oh gosh, what is he going to do with me? As if sensing my fear, he gives a reassuring smile "I think I failed to mention. Im Alpha Jackson, Alpha of Lunar Light Pack." I stand there frozen, unable to make any words. " I'm here to help with your escape". I can feel tears of joy swelling in my eyes and i couldn't help but cling to this man before me and hug him tightly. He starts chuckling and i felt like all my stress was washing away. As we stand in this moment i get a gentle tap on my shoulder. I turn to see none other than Beta Aden and i cant help but smile even bigger, which I didn't think was possible. "I see you have met your soon to be new alpha." I just nod my head shyly. "She seems to be quite the girl" Alpha Jackson says to Aden. "Its time to get going. I just got back from getting the patrol taken care of and we only have a small window to follow through with the plan." Alpha Jackson and Aden continue to go back and forth about the plan and Alpha Jackson is going to distract Alpha Carter while Beta Aden and I sneak to the kitchen to get Emily and from then we will go out the back door and there will be one of Alpha Jackson suv's waiting for us. After they are done speaking, Aden turns to me. "Are you ready?" "You have no idea how ready I am."

We see Alpha Jackon talking to Alpha Carter and he gives a go-ahead signal and we make our way to the kitchen where Emily is already waiting for us. Things go smoothly from there and we get to the suv at the border and quickly get in and make our departure. Once on the road, I look to Emily and she says she going to sleep on the way since it is about a four hour drive to Lunar Light. I lean my head back on the seat and let a breath i didn't know i was holding. A huge sense of relief has been lifted off of me. I am finally free and I'm about to start a whole new life. I life i hope is full of love and family. I lay my head up against the window and watch as the trees past by and soon I drift off to sleep. I'm in the large fenced-in grassy yard of a big white house with blue shutters. It has a deck with a lounge area and a set of French doors. There's a little boy running around. He looks to be around four years old. The boy's features look so familiar. He has bright blue eyes and black hair with golden skin. His smile could light up a room. A man comes out of the French door but his face is blurry. All I'm able to tell is that he is very tall, with broad shoulders and his skin is sunkissed. "Come on Baron, its time to come inside mom has dinner ready." and the giggling boy runs to his father and they enter the home together. What the heck is this and who are those people? I feel like I'm being pulled backwards. i look down and I'm moving and i have no control. All of a sudden, I'm in a black abyss. Its oddly calming here, even though it's simple empty blackness. In the distance, a white light forms and slowly moves closer to me. As it moves closer, it forms into the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She approaches me. She is glowing so bright white that it is hard to keep my eyes on her long. "Moon goddess? is that you?" "Yes my child." she reaches her hand out to me and places it on my cheek. A painless shock shoots through my body and i cant help but gasp. "What was that?" "You are special Bree, and i have great plans for you to come. What I just did was give you a gift. A gift of strength and agility. You will need it for the battle to come, my child." "A battle? What battle?" "I cant tell you anymore right now, but you must prepare yourself. Trust those around you and lean on them when you need to. But I must go now. I will see you again soon." She turns and walks away and fades as she goes.

My eyes flutter open and I mindlessly say "Baron" " What was that?" Aden says, making me fully aware I'm still in the SUV still with him and Emily. "Baron, it came to me in a dream." I say as I still glance at the passing trees. I have no idea where we are but there are lots of trees and we are heading up into the Appalachian mountains. "hmm" I glance over to Aden and our eyes meet, then that butterfly-like feeling starts to build in my stomach and i feel my face heating up and I quickly look down at my hands in my lap. An awkward silence falls throughout the car. I glance back at Emily and she's still sound asleep. So I turn back around and look out over the beautiful mountains we are passing through. "Beautiful isn't it?" I shifted to see Aden staring right at me. I give him a soft smile. " It sure is. I cant wait to meet my wolf tomorrow and shift for the first time and get to run through this beautiful place. " There's a waterfall not far from where we will be staying. Maybe we can run there together....that is if its okay with you." Im speechless, he wants to spend my birthday with me? I don't have any other plans unless i happen to meet my mate, so why not? It would be nice to have some company. " I'd like that actually. Some company would be nice. I'm already going to have to shift alone as I'm sure Emily will probably have other things to do to get acquainted with her new position in the pack." Aden places his hand on my knee and I can't help but stare at his gesture and take note of the warmth and comfort his touch brings me. "No one have to haveto shift alone, especially for the first time. If you'd like, I can join you. it may even help with the pain of your first shift by having someone there with you." "umm yeah sure that would be nice." I say, not really knowing how to respond. I would really like to have someone with me. I just never thought i would. And him? I would never have thought he would want to. But I have to say I'm kind of glad he is going to be there, since his touch seems to bring me such comfort. Wow, I cant believe it. When I wake up, I will be eighteen. My world will change forever and I hope I'm able to find my mate. I rest my head back against the vehicle's head rest and begin to day dream about what it will be like to meet my mate.
