Maya’s POV
I had been staying at Akayla's grandma's house for weeks now, hiding from the Lycan King's men who were still searching for me. Akayla and her grandmother had been taking care of me, making sure that I had enough food and rest. But even though I was safe for now, I couldn't help but feel anxious and restless.
I was seated outside in the garden, enjoying the warm sunlight on my skin, I suddenly felt a wave of nausea wash over me. At first, I thought it was just a passing feeling, but as the day wore on, the nausea only seemed to get worse.
After a week of feeling sick, I finally decided to see a healer. I was nervous about what they might say, but I couldn't ignore the possibility that I might be pregnant. When the healer confirmed my suspicions, I was both shocked and overwhelmed. I had never planned on having a child, especially not with the man who had killed my parents.
But as the weeks went on, I couldn't help but feel a growing sense of attachment to the tiny life growing inside of me. I knew that it was wrong to feel this way, but I couldn't help it. And yet, at the same time, I knew that I had to find a way to protect my child from the Lycan King's, I can’t let my child grow up with a man like him as a father.
As I sat in the garden, lost in thought, Akayla suddenly appeared beside me, a worried expression on her face. "Maya, are you okay? You've been sitting out here for hours."
I looked up at her, feeling a sense of guilt wash over me. "I'm fine, just thinking."
"About what?" she asked, sitting down beside me.
"About... everything. About my parents, about the Alpha King, and... about this baby."
Akayla's expression softened, and she put her arm around me in a comforting gesture. "It's okay, Maya. We'll figure something out. We'll protect you and your child, no matter what."
I nodded, feeling grateful for her support. But even as she spoke, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. The Lycan King was still out there, and I knew that he would stop at nothing to find me. I had to find a way to protect my child and get revenge for my parents' death, but I didn't know how.
*~*
I knew I couldn't stay in Akayla's grandma's house forever, so I made the difficult decision to leave and find a new pack to join. I didn't want the Lycan King to find me, and I definitely didn't want him to know that I was pregnant with his child. It was too risky, and I didn't want to be his mate, I can’t be mates with a man who killed my parents.
So I packed my few belongings and set off on my journey, I made sure I left a note for Akyala because I left without letting her know. It wasn't easy for me to travel alone, especially with the morning sickness and fatigue that came with being pregnant, but I pushed on. I knew I had to keep moving if I wanted to stay safe.
But my luck ran out when I stumbled into a dangerous territory filled with rouges. They were a rough and rowdy bunch, and I could tell from their sneers and aggressive postures that they didn't take kindly to strangers.
"What are you doing here, little Lycan?" one of them growled, blocking my path.
"I'm just passing through," I said, trying to sound confident even though my heart was pounding in my chest.
"Passing through, huh?" another rouge sneered. "Don't look like you're in any shape to be walking around on your own. You look like you're carrying a pup or two."
"Mind your own business," I snapped, trying to push past them.
But they weren't having it. They blocked my path again, growling and snarling like wild animals. I was sure they were going to attack me, but just as I was bracing myself for the worst, a voice called out from the darkness.
"Step away from her."
The rouges turned to face the newcomer, and I saw that it was an Alpha, his aura was strong and demanding. He was tall and muscular, with piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through me. I felt a sudden rush of relief and gratitude.
"She's on our territory," one of the rouges protested, he seemed bold and there was a scarce of fear in his eyes for the Alpha.
"I can see that," the Alpha said, his tone cold and commanding. "But I also see that she's pregnant and alone. Now step away before I make you."
The rouges grumbled and muttered under their breath, but they finally backed off. The Alpha turned to me and offered me a hand.
"Are you alright?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
He picked my little bag that I had dropped on the ground from the fear of being attacked by them. "Thank you. I thought they were going to attack me." He passed my bag to me.
The Alpha nodded. "They're not exactly friendly. But don't worry, you're safe now. What's your name?" He said, he sounded familiar with the rouges, maybe they were former members of his pack who he had exiled.
I hesitated for a moment, not sure if I should reveal my true identity. But something in his eyes made me trust him.
"My name is Maya," I said, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. For the first time in weeks, I felt like I might actually be okay.
"Maya, what a nice name! My name is Alpha Zane."
I couldn't believe my luck. Here I was, alone and afraid, and I had stumbled upon a kind-hearted Alpha who was willing to help me. "Thank you, Alpha Zane," I replied, feeling grateful for his assistance.
Zane led me back to his pack with his group of men accompanying us. As we walked, he asked me about my story and why I was on the run. I hesitated for a moment, not sure if I should trust him with the truth. But there was something about Zane that put me at ease, and I found myself opening up to him.
"I was trying to get away from the Lycan king's pack," I explained, feeling a lump form in my throat as I remembered my painful past.
Zane's expression grew serious. "I understand. You're safe now. My pack is nearby, and you're welcome to stay with us for as long as you need to."
I felt a sense of relief wash over me. It was a huge weight off my shoulders to know that I had found a safe place to stay. As we entered Zane's pack, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this new chance at life.
The next few days were a blur of new faces and new experiences. The pack welcomed me with open arms, and I felt like I had finally found a place where I belonged. Zane and his wolves were kind and friendly, and I started to forget about the Lycan king and all the pain he had caused me.
As the days went by, I started to feel like myself again. I had a newfound sense of hope and optimism, and I even started to forget about the Lycan king and everything he had done to me.
