Chapter 5

634 Words
Xavier’s P.O.V.              “Late? What does she mean by late? Late for what?” So I ask “What do you mean you’re late?” She jumps from my reaction, “I – I didn’t say anything.” She stammered, “But I thought it” I heard clear as day as if she spoke it yet her lips did not move. “You heard that didn’t you?” Again her lips did not move. I nodded and with that realization Aria fainted right in front of me. Luckily I was not human or else she would have crashed to the floor, I managed to catch her before she fell off the couch. Why could I hear her thoughts suddenly, that’s only something a member of the pack can do. No human should be able to make that connection. Lukeen replies “Just listen you fool, you would have figured it out already if you just stopped and listened” Annoyed by his vague reply I calm my mind, and slow my breathing, I open my senses to the world around me, the first thing I notice is Aria’s scent, it’s change, her usual vanilla is now mixed with a hint of my own, which is normal for people who mate but it seems stronger than normal. As I focus on the rise and fall of Arias chest I listen to her pure heart beats, wait a minute beats? Plural, but how? As I stare dumbfounded at my beautiful fiancé I hear Lukeen shout Bingo! In my head. I place my hand on her abdomen in wonder, forgetting that this would mean her death sentence.            Aria stirs and looks at me through thick blonde lashes and says in a small voice “So you figured it out, we’re pregnant.” My face falls at the realization of what this means, and what should be an over joyous occasion is fraught with worry. I decide I have to come clean and tell her about my kind and the other realms, she deserved to know, if I only have a few more months with her until the pregnancy destroys her, I would not do it under the guise of a lie. So, I spent the rest of that evening explaining all about my world, and the dangers of carrying my child. In the end I thought she would run, but after I finished, she looked at me with sad eyes and just said, “I wish I knew, then this could have all been prevented.” Confused she led me to a hatch in the corner of the room that had been concealed by an old trunk. Down we went through several feet of winding tunnels until they opened out into a small space with strange glowing crystals illuminating the circular opening. “This is my parents Altar” she said, I stay silent hoping she would provide more than just that, to my luck she did. “My father is Zeus and my mother a low level goddess banished from the garden.” I think to myself ‘So what does that mean’ “That means, I am a demigoddess and I am able to carry offspring of almost any creature of Earth.” She responds answering my question. “Had we of met my father he would have known what you were and forbade this from ever happening. He will consider this a slight to his lineage, a direct betrayal from me, and he will try to kill you and our baby!” She began sobbing uncontrollably, lost for words I just held her, rubbing her back and trying to sooth her the best I could. What ever is in our way we will face. But could we face the wrath of the Gods?
