"Unspoken Feelings" đź«‚đź’ť
Anaya had always loved Rohan, but he never knew.
They met in college, where Rohan’s laughter could brighten even the dullest days. He was kind, ambitious, and effortlessly charming—the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. Anaya, on the other hand, was quiet, observant, and deeply emotional. While others were drawn to Rohan’s energy, she found herself captivated by the little things—how his eyes crinkled when he laughed, how he never hesitated to help a stranger, how his dreams felt so limitless.
Their friendship came easily. Late-night study sessions, coffee shop debates, and endless conversations about life made their bond stronger. But for Anaya, every shared moment felt like something more. She never had the courage to tell him, though. She feared the possibility of losing what they already had. So instead, she loved him in silence.
She expressed her love in the smallest ways—bringing him his favorite books without being asked, remembering details about his childhood that even he had forgotten, supporting him in ways he never noticed. She wrote letters she never sent, pouring her feelings onto paper, hoping that someday she’d find the courage to share them.
But fate had its own plans.
One evening, as they sat on their favorite rooftop spot overlooking the city, Rohan spoke with an excitement she hadn’t seen before. "Anaya, I met someone," he said, his voice filled with joy. "She’s amazing… I think she might be the one."
Anaya felt her heart shatter, but she smiled. "That’s wonderful, Rohan," she said, hiding the tremor in her voice. She listened as he talked about this new girl, his happiness glowing like the city lights below them.
That night, alone in her room, she unfolded one of her unsent letters.
"Rohan, you are the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. But I know you don’t see me the way I see you. And that’s okay. Loving you, even in silence, has been the most precious part of my life. Maybe in another lifetime, you’ll turn around and notice the way I look at you. But for now, I’ll love you from afar, and I’ll let you go."
With a deep breath, she set the letter aside, never to be read by him.
Life moved on. Rohan got engaged, and Anaya stood by his side, the best friend he never knew loved him. She cheered for him, just as she always had.
And one day, as she walked alone through the city, she realized something—her love, though unreturned, had made her stronger. She wasn’t just a woman who loved and lost. She was a woman who loved, truly and deeply, without expectations. And that was its own kind of beautiful.
