The Lantern Keeper 🏮✨ In a quiet village nestled between misty mountains, a young girl named Mei tended to the lanterns that lined the forest path. It was a sacred duty—one passed down through generations. Each night, as she lit the lanterns, tiny glowing spirits called Hikarimaru would appear, fluttering like fireflies, guiding lost travelers home. One evening, Mei met a boy named Ren, who had no shadow. “I lost it in the forest,” he said with a sad smile. Mei knew that shadows held a person’s memories, and without it, Ren would soon forget who he was. Determined to help, Mei followed the whispers of the Hikarimaru deep into the woods. There, hidden in the roots of an ancient tree, lay Ren’s shadow—trapped by a mischievous fox spirit. Mei challenged the fox to a game of riddles. If she won, the shadow would be freed. With the wisdom of her ancestors, Mei answered every riddle correctly. Defeated, the fox released Ren’s shadow, and as it rejoined him, his eyes sparkled with remembrance. “Thank you, Mei,” he whispered.
