The fact that Bella made him go ahead to work first had Neron uneasy as he sat in his office, gazing at the door, frustrated over why she would make him go through with something this absurd.
Then he picked up his phone and called his secretary, annoyed over the very words he was about to utter.
Within a split second, his call got answered and he heard a lady's voice echo, "Good morning, sir. How can I help you?"
"Bella is coming in today…" Neron mumbled, hesitating over how ridiculous the rest of the statement was.
"Do you want me to do something for her?"
"Get the interview room really for her."
"What?... But we are not hiring."
"I know. Now, notify Richard to pack his stuff. He is being transferred to another branch. Also, let the interview team know they will be interviewing Bella for the spot."
"Oka…"
"Inform them that under no circumstances should she fail this interview."
"Yes, sir!"
After dropping the call, a line formed between Neron's brows, and he dropped back in his seat, knowing that all of this could be avoided if she had not requested an interview.
But there was no way he could deny her because she had become so sensitive since the pregnancy and her emotions are so chaotic that he would rather just give her anything she wants.
As the gentle morning breeze blew across the sidewalk, a black BMW drove in front of a skyscraper and then stopped.
Then its front door opened, and Addo got down from the vehicle, adjusted her coat, and walked over to the back door.
When she reached for the handle, the door suddenly opened, and Bella stepped down from the car.
Inhaling the morning breeze with a smile on her face, she clutched her purse and mumbled, "Okay, I can do this."
As she was about to take a step forward, Diana and Addo were prepared to follow her when she turned around and mumbled, "Can you guys just stay out here."
"But…" Addo mumbled, looking hesitant.
"I am literally walking into a building that belongs to your master, what could possibly go wrong?"
"A lot of things."
Frowning, she panted, whispering beneath her breath, "This is not what I meant when I said I wanted to be a regular employee."
No conversation or argument was going to change Addo or Diana's minds from following her and Bella knew that, so she took out her phone.
It was quiet in the office as Neron pulled all his focus into the document on his desk, making sure he wasn't missing anything before proceeding to sign it.
After he got to the last page, a buzzing noise took his attention off the sheet and he looked at the phone, dropping his pen and reaching for it.
The moment he saw Bella's name on his screen, he immediately answered the call and let out, "Where are you?"
"At your company," Bella mumbled, putting the phone on speaker. "Can you please tell Daina and Addo not to follow me into the building?"
At that moment, a black jeep stopped a few distances behind the BMW, and Bella raised her gaze, listening to Neron say, "Sure."
A look of distress settled in her eyes as she stared solely at Damon, getting out of the car.
Immediately, Daina and Addo stood in defensive positions, shielding Bella behind them.
For a brief period, she forgot that there was someone else, a person who held a part of her heart in his grip, although she never really wanted to admit it.
But now, seeing Damon again, brought back memories. The good ones, and the ones that made her uneasy about him.
Yet, her mind wouldn't let her forget that he is also a part of her life whether she wanted it or not. The twin could share his DNA, and he could be their father.
The truth was undeniably real, even though she wanted to avoid it. But not letting her emotions get the best of her, she raised her chin and calmed herself when he reached them.
"You look good," Damon mumbled, focusing on her eyes, even though Daina and Addo were blocking his way.
Although he felt a sense of relief to see her, he was hesitant about the pregnancy because her stomach wasn't showing and he couldn't tell if she kept the babies or not.
"What the f**k are you doing here?!" Neron's harsh voice echoed from the phone speaker when he recognized Damon's voice.
Downcasting his gaze to Bella's phone, Damon scoffed and let out, "To talk to you."
"Diana, you two get Bella into the building and don't leave her side," Neron commanded.
A look of annoyance settled on Damon's face when he heard those words, and before Addo or Diana could realize it, he sped past them and grabbed Bella's phone out of her hands.
A sense of frustration overwhelmed Bella as she mumbled, "What are you doing?"
But Damon ignored her words, ended the call with Neron, and input his number into her phone, saving it with his name.
"It's nice to see you again, little thing," Damon said, gazing at her stomach.
When Bella caught him staring, she subconsciously rested her palm on her abdomen, wondering what was going on in his head as he stared without blinking.
"We should go before master gets annoyed and comes out here," Diana whispered, drawing Bella's attention off Damon's eyes and onto hers.
With a weak smile on her lips, she breathe slightly and murmured, "Okay,"
Then she walked past Damon, restraining herself from looking his way, even though her mind was focused on him.
When they entered the building, Bella knew Damon was following, but her eyes were stiffly glued ahead of her.
However, he suddenly walked past them, darting in the same direction, and she swallowed down her fear, yet the feeling that something was stuck in her throat didn't go away.
When Bella and Addo, along with Diana reached Neron's office area, his secretary immediately rushed over to them, gently uttering, "Good morning. The interview room is this way. Please follow me."
For a couple of seconds, Bella didn't move, staring after Damon as he walked into Neron's office, and she held in her breath at the thought of what was going to happen between them.
The moment the door shut behind him, it felt like distress was tightly squeezing her heart and had claimed her body for its own.
After taking a long look at the door, striving to pick up the sound of their voices, she felt grief take over her system like her soul had been swept away, and her emotions were strangling her whole.
"Bella, can you please come this way," The Secretary announced a bit louder, grabbing her attention finally.
Caressing gently onto her stomach, Bella drew a breath, and then dragged her gaze away from the door, walking away in reluctance.
