Chapter 4

Eva reacted quickly, she hurriedly got out from the bed and bowed to him horrifically, her knees touching the ground swiftly.

“I heard you had a conversation with your brother about me?”

Eva eyes widened, how did he know she had a conversation about him, fear slowly crept into her heart as she trembled violently, she kept her head bowed, not daring to look into his dangerous eyes, she shifted when she heard the squeaking sound of the chair and the approaching footsteps.

“From now onwards, you stay at my palace, the maids will come pick you up and take you to their quarters.”

He walked away immediately he finished speaking, when she heard the sound of the door closing, her legs gave way and she fell flatly on the floor, her parents even though rogues now, had held high positions in the pack, her father was the Beta of the previous Alpha and her mother a close confidant of the Luna of the pack, they had their own mansion, cars and maids that works for them, and now because of a decision of her father, her entire life had been ruined, she is now reduced to this state, working as a maid for the royal family.

One thing, she never really came to understand is why her parents always hid her whenever the Alpha visited their home, her existence was a mystery to the pack members and its shocking that even the Alpha of the kingdom never knew his Beta had a daughter, he only knew of the son, till now, she still haven’t comprehend why her dad decided to isolate her from the world, even though they showered her with love and affection but still, it was never enough.

She was interrupted in her thoughts by a light knock on the door, after a brief moment the door was pushed open, as a petite looking girl with small face walked in, she stared at her for a while before coughing lightly.

“Am Isabelle, and you?”

Eva was confused, he had clearly said a maid will come look for her, but she…was she a maid, she looked much like a little princess.

“Ha...”

Isabelle stilled a laughter that threatened to escape her lips, she stared at Eva with bemusement.

“My lord ordered to take you to our quarters.”

Eva nodded, she was shocked, the few maids she met at Alpha Karen looked nothing like this, and this pretty girl would pass for the daughter of an Alpha. She followed her too immediately, and on the way, while Isabelle tried to inunciate conversation, she remained silent, not that she didn’t want to speak, but that she just didn’t know what to say, she never had much interactions with other pack members, although she had questions she wanted to ask, but she couldn’t bring herself to do so.

Shortly after, they walked out of the mansion and came to a shabby looking bungalow, which to her shock was the maid quarters.

“Attention all!"

Isabelle drew the attention of the others with her loud voice and the chattering stopped, the hall became quite, all eyes turned to them, Eva became uncomfortable by the cold and curious glances of the others in the room, they all had nothing but resentment in their gaze, which kind of frightened her, she cowed away, her body trembling visibly but soon enough she found out that the resentment wasn’t directed toward her.

“This is…”

Isabelle extended her hands to her, using her eyes to urge to spill her name.

“Eva."

She muttered shakingly, her eyes drifted past the unfamiliar faces and for the first time in her entire existence, Eva felt exposed, she shut her eyes tightly before reopening them again and stared at the small crowd gathered at the central living space (as she later got to figure out).

“Am Eva, I…I was captured by Alpha Karen on the blood moon night.”

Immediately she spoke, silence covered the entire hall, it made her more scared.

she carried her face down, not daring to stare head on with the rest of the maids.

“Go on, go on with your duties, this isn’t the first time, you’ve seen a rogue. Is it?”

Isabella spoke amicably, she held this condescending smirk on her face as she stared at them all, she winked at Ava before stepping out, that moment, Ava suddenly felt like collapsing, all eyes were staring widely at her, she fidgeted with her gown for a while before a girl covered in rags walked up to her and extended her hands to her, Ava first reaction was to shrink back in fear.

“Come on, I will show you to your room."

The girl spoke to her calmly and with an angelic voice, Eva was flustered, she decided to go with the girl but she ignored her extended hands. The girl smiled and followed her, while everyone went about their business.

“My name is Amelia and am your new roommate…hehe, I wouldn’t call it a room.”

Eva nodded calmly, she didn’t have anything to say to her but Amelia kept talking nonetheless.

“I know it must be strange and frightening for you in this new environment, I totally understand you, it’s was same for me.”

Eva paused in her tracks and looked at her but Amelia chuckled and turned to her.

“I meant, I was once in your shoes, a rogue caught by Alpha Ethan, despised and taken as trash until…..never mind.”

Amelia sighed, and Eva could swear she sensed a feeling of regret from her.

“Who is Isabella?”

Eva asked, she noticed how the other slaves tried their possible best to avoid her as if she was the plague, and she kind of acted all high and mighty, plus the fact that she dressed so differently from the other slaves.

“Ha…she’s just a foolish and naïve slave favored by the Prince.”

Amelia said with spiteful voice.

“The prince?”

“I mean Alpha Ethan, she’s his plaything and she thinks she’s the Luna...ha, how miserable.”

Now it all made sense to her, but it’s totally not her business, she just have to find a way to speak with her brother again, she was sure, she won’t spend the rest of her life as a slave, her brother will come save her. If only she knew what had happened to her brother and is condition now, she wouldn’t be so assured.

The next day, Eva and the other slaves were woken up on time and the works were assigned to them, Eva was shocked when she found out she was in charge of cleaning the inner chambers of Alpha Ethan, after what happened the last time, she never wanted to see him again, but she knew it wasn’t possible, he owned her now. She was consoled by the fact that he probably might not be in his room, after all as an Alpha, he had lots of things to do other than lingering in his room all day, she consoled herself with that and carried her working tools upstairs.

Sincerely, she wasn’t sure she could clean, being the pampered daughter of her father, she wasn’t allowed to do anything while growing up, though she learnt how to cook simply because she was too bored all day, but cleaning was not something she enjoyed doing.

Amelia was assigned to the outer chambers of Alpha Ethan but she had to help out in the kitchen first, so she simply went on her own.

Eva wiped off the sweats trailing down her face as she struggled to climb the stairs, Alpha Ethan room was on the upper floor and the elevator wasn’t for the servants to use, she had no other choice than to use the stairs; finally she got to large door of Alpha Ethan room, she breathed a heavy sigh.

Staring at the red door, her heart was thumbing widely against her chest, she let out a loud sigh, before knocking slowly on the door, she knocked again when there was no sound coming from inside, after the third knock, she was secretly relived, relieved that she doesn’t have to face him, she opened the door with a crack and stepped into the room, she turned to close the door, but it was suddenly closed forcefully, Eva eyes widened, she turned slowly to her front but was suddenly pushed against the wall.
