Chapter 5

“My lord, you have to listen to me, this is a challenge, your brother is openly challenging you.”

“What will you have me do Matt…what the hell?”

Alpha Karen yelled, he had been walking in circles round the room for minutes now, he swept his hands through his hair and cursed out loud, Matt knew that when he’s like this, its because he is angry but don’t know where or who to vent his anger on.

The wind blew the curtain apart as the sun rose into the sky, the weight of the wind and the sweet caress of the brightness from the sun did nothing to calm the heaviness on his heart.

Like a jolt, Karen stood up abruptly and rushed to the door, but Matt was faster and stood in front of him in few seconds.

“I can’t let you act out of impulsiveness, my lord.”

“Get out!” Alpha Karen uttered through gritted teeth, his eye balls were beginning to slit to red colors and that moment Matt realized that he couldn’t stop him, but he had to say something to him.

“My lord, think about this carefully, don’t be in a haste to take matters into your hands… remember the oath you took in front of the late alpha.”

Alpha Karen clenched his fist tightly, he held his head in his hands as he squatted down on the marble tiled floor, his hair was scattered as he had continuously swept his hands through them.

“This won’t do, she wouldn’t survive a day there.” Karen quickly got up and made way to the door.

“Get a hold of yourself MY LORD.”

Matt yelled, his brows furrowed tightly, he walked up to Karen faced him.

“You can’t break the alliance and challenge your brother openly for a mere slave.” He said the last part quietly, but Karen was too confused to hear him.

“He challenged me openly too, he saw the way he barged into my palace and claimed my slave, she’s Min…”

“My lord!” Matt stopped him before he could complete his sentence.

“My lord, Alpha Ethan didn’t actually claim her, you had also claimed the rogues he captured a couple times too, he might just be doing this as an act of retaliation.”

A brief knock was heard on the door and Alpha Karen sighed loudly, Matt walked forward to open the door after making sure Alpha Karen is composed, A sturdy man walked in and bowed to Alpha Karen, he turned to Matt who bowed at him, he nodded and handed an exquisite invitation letter made of gold to him, he turned to Alpha Karen, bowed briefly and walked out.

“What does it say?” Immediately the door was closed, Karen questioned warily, he stood up and snatched the letter from Matt, after reading it, his brows were deeply burrowed as he stared into nothingness.

“Where is she being kept?”

“At the slave quarter, my lord.” Matt answered truthfully when he noticed the anger laced deeply on his voice.

Eva heart thumped wildly against her chest, she wanted to open the door and run away or better still let the ground open up and swallow her, she sniffed silently and made a quick prayer on her heart, while turning slowly to face Alpha Ethan but low and behold, it wasn’t Alpha Ethan but the slave girl, she was staring condescendingly at her, with burrowed eyebrows and irritated smirk.

“What are you doing in here?” She barked, she totally seem like a total freak and Eva was sure of one thing, if she doesn’t get a satisfying answer, she might really tear her apart, she heard from her new friend and roommate that she still has her powers and instincts, she could transform into her wolf at any given time, the Alpha didn’t give her the submission pill because she had actually saved his life, that’s why she had much freedom and is treated differently.

“Are you now mute?” Her angry voice carried a hint of killing intent which kind of shocked Eva, she didn’t have to be this angry, what made her reaction so strong that she even had to throw away her façade and shut so angrily at her, she stared straight into her eyes; almost immediately, her fangs enlarged from her nails, Eva eyes widened, she really intended killing her, she crawled backwards looking warily into her eyes, but Isabelle seem like a total freak, she held out her hand high and was about to raise her fingers at her when the door was suddenly pushed up.

Eva breathed a sigh of relief, even though deep down she knew it might be another danger lurking around.

“What are you doing?” The thunderous voice of Alpha Ethan sounded so pleasant in her ears that moment and she felt a surge of happiness and security, something she normally doesn’t feel.

“My lord…you are back so early...I act…me ...I wasn’t...” Isabelle suddenly turned gentle and a shuttering freak, she seem like a totally different person compared to her senile face from earlier, tears welled up In her eyes as she protruded fangs went back in, she walked up to Alpha Ethan and with a pitiful expression and coquettish voice, she began her complaint.

“My lord, I just came into your room to serve you your morning tea, you normally love taking it after your early morning hunt, so I brought it in as usual but I didn’t find you in your room..”

Isabelle wiped out the traces of tears in her eyes and cleared her throat, Alpha Ethan face was already full of impatience. “Tell me what the hell happened here.”

He barked, and Eva trembled, his voice sparked a reaction out of her each time he shouted.

“She…she….when I got in here, I met this rogue you brought in just yesterday, she was rummaging through your room and ...and when I confronted her, she attacked me, I was only defending myself when you got in..”

Eva was shocked on how smooth and fast her lie was, but she ignored her and stared at Alpha Aiden for his reaction, she wasn’t disappointed by the result.

“Take her out and punish her.” Immediately he finished speaking, two burly men with expressionless came into the room and dragged her out, she struggled to free herself from their grip, but damn, they were way stronger than her and she couldn’t even fight off one of them on her own, she turned to Alpha Ethan.

“My Lord, I only came here to clean your room, I was never rummaging through your things...I” One of the men hit her lightly on her shoulders and she felt herself drifting out of consciousness but not without seeing the satisfied smirk plastered on the face of Isabella.

Alpha Ethan rubbed his creased eyebrows incessantly, his facial expression was changing consistently and the aura surrounding him was frightening and imposing, Isabelle didn’t dare utter a word.

“Milord...”

“get out.”

Isabelle pouted and walked out of the room with a struggle, Alpha Ethan sighed and massaged his brows, He sat down on the Couch beside his bed, he had heard all that happened in the room from the elevator thanks to his superb hearing skills of a werewolf and Alpha, but he couldn’t bring himself to support her, especially not now that she involves his brother.

“My Lord” Gamma Burke stepped into the room and frowned when he sniffed the scent of a rogue.

“MY lord, I’ve delivered your message to your brother...”

Burke ignored the lingering feeling in his heart and reported to the Alpha. “What did he say? What transpired between you both…?” Alpha Ethan voice was laced with hidden desires and expectations that Burke found confusing, his Lord had never bothered about his first brother until now.

“The letter was received by his Gemma my lord and I couldn’t wait for them to open it, so I didn’t get to see their reaction.”

“Why couldn’t you wait?” Alpha Ethan shouted angrily, using his Alpha Tone and Burke fell on his knees immediately, the overwhelming power almost choking him to death.

Alpha Ethan calmed himself down and Burke coughed out loudly in fright.

“You mean you didn’t catch on to anything.”

“I did my Lord, He seem pissed and frightened… I think he might actually be romantically attracted to that rogue.”

Ha... Alpha Burke broke out into a chuckle, he said slowly but menacingly in a deep Metallic voice. “Prepare a big show for him in the torture ground.”

“Yes, My Lord.”
