Chapter 6

Eva was forced conscious by the iciness of the water being bowed on her, she coughed violently, trying to adjust her eyes to the light, that’s was when she realized she was being tied and held against a metallic chair.

She opened her eyes slowly and realized she was surrounded by burly guards in an open arena, and they had long and thick whips on their hands, Eva shivered frighteningly on seeing the whip which has patches of blood stains on them, it was obvious what it’s being used for.

“Release her.” The scorch voice of one of the person happens to be the head guard at this arena vibrated on her ears, she felt immense pain when the ropes were ripped out of her body, she had been so tightly bonded that her body felt sore.

“When do we begin the flogging, she seems weak and feeble, would she last through a hundred?”

A curious male voice asked, and hell that voice sounded familiar, she struggled to look up at him and was shocked when she realized that he was the guy from the Dungeon where she was kept hostage when she first got here, he had been the one who was curious about why Alpha Karen had brought her in, and something’s seems off, he was supposed to be Alpha Karen man right, then why was he here working for Alpha Ethan, something g isn’t right, is that he is two timing them or, her eyes suddenly widened at a realization, he must be planted by Alpha Karen here or maybe by Alpha Ethan, whoever it is, it made her realize that the brothers don’t get along well.

Actually while they were on the run, her parents had told her things about their pack, that’s how she got to know a few things about the pack.

“My lord, you are here.” Eva coughed violently as she tried her best to look up and see who just came into the place, but her face was covered by her blood, she could barely make out the face of the person before her, but she felt him hovering over her as if searching for something.

“Mate.” A low scowl came out of the lips of the person, due to the thickness of the voice, she couldn’t make out who he was, but he …he called her Mate, or rather, she recognized the voice as that of an inner wolf, what does this mean, she found her Mate.

That’s crazy because she hasn’t awakened her wolf and there’s no how she would have a mate but she was really curious on who he is, is he one of the prison guards, does that mean he would let her go, her hopes went high, it would be great if they let her pain ease, she wasn’t used to this kind of pain, and the fact that they haven’t actually began the torture, she wouldn’t survive a single stroke.

Suddenly, she felt the guards around her begin to dissipate one by one and only the presence of one remained, she felt him walk closer to her slowly and carefully, when he stood just a few inches from her, she wrapped his hand around her neck and began strangling her, Eva struggled to breath as she choked on her tears, she felt it, he was her supposed mate and he’s doing this, did he feel this was a better option than rejecting her, her hands were tied tightly behind her back, she struggled trying to break free from his grip but his hold was just too powerful, not to talk of her being tied, even if she were to be free, she didn’t think she would be able to break free, if only her brother was here, tears fell through her eyes uncontrollably as she drifted in and out of consciousness until she finally passed out.

In a not too far distance, a masculine figure stood watching all this with a satisfied smirk on his face.

“You are doing well little sis, soon we will conquer this kingdom.”

“Who’s she?” A slender lady walked out from behind the tree and stared at the sight, she scoffed.

“Just someone I know.” The hurried footsteps coming towards them suddenly alerted them, they exchanged look and immediately scurried away.

Alpha Karen paced round the room lost in thoughts, he had appeared just in time before Alpha Ethan struggled Eva to death, but he still wouldn’t let her go, he suddenly halted, his brother usually don’t torture or try to kill women himself, he found it belittling of his status, he often left it to his underling to carry out, the only woman he actually killed himself was his former mate and childhood friend who betrayed him, he had tortured her gruesomely and burned her alive, that was when he became known as the devil’s pup throughout Crescent moon pack, but seeing him strangling Eva with such rage In his eyes only met one thing, he full recognized that rage.

“My Lord.” Matt stepped in but was immediately met with the furious eyes of Alpha Karen, he walked up to anger angrily and smashed his hands against his chest, Matt was sent flying across the walls with a thud so powerful that it shook the building, he got up weakly and knelt while bowing to him in submissiveness.

Alpha Karen was even more angered by his actions, his eyes c**t had turned completely red and he looked like a ferocious beast ready to unleash his destruction, but Matt stood unmoving on the floor, he might be attacked and teared apart in the next minute but still knelt down, the power of the Alpha voice made him unable to move and even speak.

“Your carelessness almost cost her life, you damn Gamma, if not for anything at least for the fact that I was your master, couldn’t you protect one weak Rogue.”

Alpha Karen fangs suddenly elongated, his faces wrapped in pains and anger and his eyes pure red, a terrifying sight, his wolf tugged at him to let him go and deal with this betrayer who almost let their mate died. Mate Alpha Karen paused.

Eva coughed slightly as she the rays of sunlight hit her eye lashes, she blinked several times trying to depict her location, her throat was dry and stiff and she found speaking difficult, after a few minuets, her eyes adjusted to the bright room and she looked around trying to ascertain where she was and how she got here, she recognized the room as the room she shared with a fellow rogue slave, she c****d her head to the other side, only to find her sleeping soundly, she tried getting out of the bed, but winced miserably in pains, memories of her encounter before losing consciousness flooded her head.

She whimpered in fright, she still felt his strong hands on her neck, she didn’t even get to see the person who did this to her.

“Are you Okay?” The concerned voice of Amelia broke her out of her thought, she was standing right in front of her and she didn’t even realize when she walked over, she didn’t have the sharp instincts of a werewolf because her wolf haven’t awakened.

“Am fine.” Eva smiled what she felt was a convincing smile but Amelia just hissed.

“No, you are not okay Eva, look at you. You almost got killed.” Amelia face was filled with anxiety, and Eva felt a warmth she never imagined she would ever feel, she actually feels good when someone actually care about you.

“What did you do?” Amelia asked after handling her a cup of water, Eva gazed at her before painfully drinking the water, she winced and Amelia frowned.

“I should get the doctor but we rogues are denied all medical attention, we are left to die writhing in pains, what happened to you?”

Eva shook her head, her head hurt so bad that she didn’t want to narrate the incident, apparently she found her mate but she couldn’t feel the mate bond but the other party felt it and tried to kill her, the question is, why? Her brother often told her the mate bond is irresistible and one couldn’t bear to hurt his mate.

“You were almost struggled to death by Alpha Ethan but luckily Alpha Karen got to the scene on time and saved you, apparently he happened to send...”

“What…what!” Eva lips trembled and her eyes widen, no wonder she felt that minty earth fragrance from him, it was him and what, she’s his mate, no way, it can’t possibly be true.

“Yeah, I know….it’s shocking right, Alpha Ethan don’t usually kill women or rogues, he find it demeaning and strangely enough, Alpha Karen who usually doesn’t interfere with his brother’s affairs suddenly confronted him that day. They even had a huge fight...apparently His Gamma was supposed to...”

Amelia kept babbling on but Eva couldn’t hear the words she spoke, her mind was centered on one thing, she’s Alpha Ethan mate and he tried to kill her. She stood up with a jolt, does this mean that all her brother said was true, the mission was on her head, to restore her father’s reputation and kill the Formidable and heartless Alpha, she trembled violently as hot tears slid down her cheeks.

“….now, Alpha Ethan locked himself in his room fighting off the monster.”

“Monster…what monster?”
