Denial

I made my way back home in a daze. my father's words playing over and over in my head. how am I going to find a fated mate within the year? who will they choose for me if I don't? I can't handle all these what if's.

I open the door to my room and stare between the small wooden white bed and the cozy window seat, I don't really think I'll be able to fall asleep any time soon so I grab a book off the shelf, the blanket off my bed, I kick my shoes off and make my way over to the window seat.

I curl up and watch the random couples, throuples, and what looks to my an orgy seeing the four girls and five guys heading towards the "love shack". I roll my eyes Aster has tried to get me to go there but that will never happen. I may not be a virgin but i have no desire to partake in any group activites.

I open up my book "Entwined by You" by Sylvia Day and attempt to focus on the words in front of me. nothing is working with this whole distraction thing. my mind is racing I have to get out of here.

I close the book at glance at the clock it's almost four in the morning I really can't go anywhere so I opt for a few hours of sleep. I crawl into bed and toss and turn for the next few hours until sleep envelopes me.

*unknown POV*

"Where the f**k is it!" I spit in his face as I squeeze tighter around his neck holding him against the wall.

"I dont-"

I squeeze tighter cutting him off. "if I hear 'I don't know' one more time I'm burning the pack to the ground while you watch.

A small woman runs into the room screaming "please stop hurting him! he doesn't know anything!"

before she can reach me my beta grabs her and holds her back.

I shove Alpha Romero to my Gamma and he quickly grabs him slamming him against the wall so he can't move.

I stride to the woman and grab her chin forcing her to look at me. "What do you know! tell me everything or he dies!" I demand making her body shake with fear.

"a witch, my great grandmother cursed the stone to forever stay at the bottom of crystal falls. I dont know how to get it out, you can't find it by diving you have to break the curse."

I tensed at her words, "how do I know I can believe you?" I question crossing my arms over my chest.

she lifts her chin trying to appear intimidating I almost chuckled but stayed stone faced. "You can't. but," she looked back at Declan holding her arms "do you mind?"

he looked up at me and I nodding giving him permission to release her.

she shook her shoulders out and walked to the safe behind the painting. she quickly punched in a code and before opening it turned around and looked at me "if I give you this you have to promise to leave our pack alone forever."

I think about her request "I am not an unreasonable man. I can't promise anything until I know what it is you think will keep me away."

she sighs and glances at her husband his eyes are pleading her not to do whatever she is going to do. "I'm sorry mi amore" she says before opening the safe and pulling out and heavy book. "this was left to my by my grandmother. it's mostly in Latin and maybe Icelandic I never took the time to translate but this should have the information you need." she hands it to me not wanting to let go.

I slowly take it from her and feel a pang of guilt. "for your willingness to help I promise to leave your pack alone."

she nods with sad eyes staring at the book.

"until" I continue "the day I return this book to you." her eyes light up subtly "I will hand deliver it once I'm done with it. thank you for your cooperation."

I twirl my finger in the air and whistle "let's go boys. we've got a stone to find."
