Ruby's POV
Several steps followed Ruby as she furiously walked away from Carrick. Her mind was saddened by the painful reminder of Tyrus abandoning her. It was him she loved, it was him she gave her heart to. She hadn't loved anyone else the way she loved him, and it really sucked to remember that she would no longer have access to the house she had dreamt of.
"Hold on, hold on, Ruby, for a second," Ruby heard the raised voice of Carrick as he followed behind her. She didn't want him to get to her on time, and so she moved quickly to the field.
She didn't want him to see her face. That sad face. She didn't want to answer any of his questions. She just wanted to be alone, just as Tyrus left her to adapt to loneliness, until it would drift off again.
