Ruby's POV
Carrick's voice was hoarse and thin as he buried his head in Ruby's neck, sniffing her nostrils deeply as he raised his head.
"This mark," he pointed to Tyrus's mark on her neck, "has been here for too long."
Ruby shut her eyes and swallowed his scent in pleasure. His scent was thick in the air, and everything about him started to appeal to her.
Carrick slowly opened his eyes as his teeth bared. "What have we been waiting for? Why were we hesitating? Weren’t we meant to be? Why haven't I marked you yet?"
Ruby's lips moved, but she didn’t have the right words to say. Carrick flipped her over and sent her to the wall, pinning her there as his teeth bared, and Ruby cowered in fear. She was shivering. She was scared again, scared of what this would turn out to be eventually.
