It had been a whole day, and Carrick still hadn’t visited Ruby. She stayed in her room the entire time, trying to figure out why he hadn’t come. Oh, he was probably dealing with that so-called Matthias, who had shown up to threaten his pack in the most idiotic way.
She rested her head on her pillow and stared at the ceiling. Her life felt dull. It lacked the spark she used to have in her former packs. She missed having friends around...people who could calm her rage after a long day. Laura had tried to fill that gap, but they weren’t in the same age group, and it felt awkward trying to talk to her the way she would a close friend.
