Ruby's POV
"Ruby left a few minutes ago to search for you. I thought she would have found you by now," her father said with a stern expression. "I’m sorry. She’s no longer with us. You should start looking for her already."
Carrick let out a deep breath, keeping his gaze fixed on the floor. A storm of thoughts ran through his mind. He hadn’t been able to reach Ruby’s mother, but he had sent rogues after her to give her the beating of her life. He had prioritised returning for Ruby so they could leave together...and now he was being told she was gone.
He lifted his head and looked at her father. "You don’t look too bothered about her whereabouts. Are you sure she left your house?"
