Ruby's POV
Carrick was dressed in all black and smiling as Ruby pulled away from her father’s hug and walked with him to the living room. She wanted to say hello to her mother and Sapphire as well, but Carrick seemed to be in a hurry.
"These people aren't worth the love you show them. Did anyone go out looking for you when you were about to commit suicide? Apart from your father?" Carrick thought. He wanted to say it aloud, but he didn’t want to hurt Ruby. After all, they were still her family.
Before her mother could reach the living room, a soft knock came at the door, and Carrick rushed to check through the peephole.
It was Cannon.
He pulled the door open, and Cannon stepped in confidently, shocked to see Ruby well-dressed and prepared to travel.
