Ruby's POV
Carrick’s wolf moved stealthily through the woods, searching for Ruby’s wolf. She had escaped from him, and while he wondered why, he also found it difficult to trace the faint scent she left behind.
His sharp eyes scanned the trees as several rogues came into view...but none of them dared to fight him or block his path. After a few minutes, the scent trail stopped, and he knew Ruby was somewhere nearby.
He spotted a crouched wolf at the far end of the woods. She was sitting still in her wolf form, watching other wolves approach. Carrick thudded the ground loudly as he charged toward her. She tried to run, but he pinned her down before she could escape. Right then, they were both forced to shift back into their human forms.
