Ruby’s eyes fluttered open as she woke up to the sound of persistent knocking on her door. She glared at the walls and the wallpaper surrounding the room...then at her sheets.
Oh. She’d been brought here by the Alpha King last night and had fallen asleep. Who, then, was knocking like she owed them money?
She got to her feet and rushed to the door. She unlocked it and pushed it open slightly, but no one was in the doorway. She glanced down the hallway but saw no one there.
