EMMA STOOD IN FRONT of the mirror, staring into her bloodshot eyes. She was numb from the constant emotional barrage and weary from days on the road. To make it even worse, the situation was starting to feel unreal. What was she even doing? Why was she trying to help the spoiled brat sitting at the counter in that restaurant? Why didn’t she just arm up and storm the big, fancy house where her little girl was probably being held? Emma closed her eyes, dropping her head back, and took a deep breath.
