CHAPTER NINETEEN “BRICK? WHERE ARE YOU, old dog?” Percy’s attempt to keep a light tone as he called out to his uncle didn’t do anything to lessen the dread twisting through Brita’s stomach. She jogged back to Percy. “Maybe he went in the house?” Percy was already running that way. “I’ll check the house, you guys check the grounds. Maybe he wandered down to the beach.” Bud jerked his head toward the water. “I’ll check the beach.” Brita nodded, heading toward the pool house. “Call out if you find him.” She ran across the patio, leaping over flower beds vibrant with a riot of brightly colored flowers and dodging around trees.
