Third Person POV
“That’s… a royal carriage.”
“I can see that clearly. Why is it a royal carriage?”
“You think I would know that?! I sent the king an invite but I didn’t expect him to come! It was a common courtesy.”
“You stupid gorrila, what if he stops the wedding?”
“You think he can?!”
Twack! Twack!
Geraldine and Amaya held the back of their heads that throbbed from Miriam’s hit with her infamous fan. Mirabel giggled as they silent her silent curses and vulgar gestures.
{It is the prince. He sent word that he was coming.}
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
{I tried to tell you both but you were too busy not listening to me.}
“My lady, when did I ever do that? I would never not listen to you.”
{Shut up. We’re out here to greet him and welcome him. Be on your best behavior, both of you.}
“... Yes, my lady.”
Mirabel giggled once again, holding on to her sister’s arm. Miriam sighed and shook her head, wondering just possessed the two to think to stay together even though they fought so much.
The carriage stopped in front of them and a footman that accompanied them opened the door. Prince Kron stepped out first, aiding Captain Plato. Reid was right behind them, looking impressed with the Horps Estate.
“Welcome to the Horps Esta… Commander Plato?! What are you doing here? What happened to you?”
Miriam’s fan connected with the back of Geraldine’s head once more.
“Young lady, I am glad to see you too. This is merely a flesh injury.”
“You’re lying to me again,” Geraldine grumbled, rubbing her head. Since Geraldine couldn’t be Miriam’s voice, Mirabel stepped forward.
“Welcome to the Horps Estate, your highness. We have prepared rooms for you and we are ready to have lunch with you at any moment. Please follow us in.”
“I heard there was a good doctor in the Horps Estate. I am hoping Captain Plato would be taken care of.”
“Of course your highness. He is in good hands.”
“Then, shall I make a request?”
“Go ahead your highness.”
“I wish to spar with the beast of the west.”
The amiable atmosphere disappeared completely. Geraldine’s playful eyes held a great sharpness to it that scared shivers down Kron’s spine. All she did was give him a pointed stare and his knees buckled.
“Your highness, we are here for a wedding. We can do this later,” Plato intervened. Geraldine stormed into the mansion without saying anything. Kron received another glare but this one was somehow more dangerous.
If he could liken Geraldine’s glare to a sharpened greatsword with a jagged blade, he would liken Miriam’s glare to a smooth sharpened longsword. Both auras were equally hostile but there was still something different about them.
Miriam pursued Geraldine and Mirabel was left to entertain the guests. Coughing awkwardly, she led them into the mansion.
“Won’t you stop already? How long are you going to make your lady chase after you?”
“... Father.”
“Why do you reek of bloodlust, child? If you don’t calm down, your husband might leave you.”
“Even he calls me a gorilla. Am I really a beast?”
General Tiller was most surprised to see his daughter with tears in her eyes. Even though the bloodlust that leaked from her was enough to freeze men in their socks, she still looked and cried like a little girl. General Tiller froze there, unsure of what to do.
No, he was scared to hug her. He was scared of her.
Geraldine felt a certain softness hit her back. Those arms were firm and soft, always providing support when she needed it.
“Am I really that bad, Miriam?”
Since she couldn’t respond, she could only hug Geraldine tighter. The thing was, Geraldine didn’t appreciate being treated as a beast or a monster. Her monstrous strength wasn’t something she could control and she was always afraid of hurting those around her.
However, with someone like Miriam, she could be more herself. Because there was no way, in a million years, that she was beating Miriam.
{You really cried because of one statement?}
“He hurt my feelings!”
{Stop acting like a baby. If your groom saw you like this, she would laugh at you.}
“My lady, please don’t tell Amaya. She’s really…”
“Too late! I wish I could’ve captured that moment when I saw you cry!”
“Amaya!”
The general was uncomfortable with watching girls cry and comfort themselves so he left earlier. Amaya was able to reveal herself without issues. She stepped out of where she hid and pulled Geraldine to herself.
“You look very ugly.”
“Urgh, you don’t have to say anything!”
“Even the truth?”
“Shut up!”
“If you weren't crying, I think you would be one of the most beautiful maidens in the capital. You’re very king, brave and mischievous. It’s hard to believe you’re a commander at this age. You should be proud of yourself and your achievements.”
Amaya was taller than Geraldine so her head rested perfectly on the former’s shoulder. Geraldine blushed into Amaya’s shoulder.
{What a beautiful couple.}
“You know, I’d much rather be with you, my lady.”
{I’ll kill you.}
“My lady, my heart! That was too cruel.”
{Stop playing now. We have guests.}
“I’m pretty sure he has forgotten he has a brother here. He is an insensitive bastard, as always. I am glad the princess isn’t here.”
{I sent an invitation for the wedding. I’m hoping she doesn’t come.}
“I don’t think he’ll allow her to come. In case she does, we have to keep them apart. If he finds out who she is, the whole thing would come apart faster than we think.”
{I’ll put everything in your hands.}
“I would do my best, my lady.”
{Once again, I trust you. Do not let me down.}
“Of course. Oi! Get off me. We have work to do. The brat should be somewhere around here, it’s your turn to take care of him. ”
“Tch, so mean,” Geraldine complained, being tossed away from Amaya’s body. As she turned to leave, she felt something touch her forehead. It was light, like the barest touch of a butterfly’s wings. Before she could say anything, Amaya was already out of sight.
