Ash took a chair close by, but still, he refused to look at me. He stared at the wall instead and clenched and unclenched his fists. I wanted to sit up and yell at him to just talk already, but of course, I wasn’t able to do that right now. As happy as I had been to be with him again, now I almost just wanted to go to bed and escape him, let death come and all.
“I’m sorry, Willow.” The words were so soft I had to strain to hear them.
Another apology. The only apology I ever wanted from him was the one where he told me he realized that Orion was a leech of a human being and needed to be locked away unable to hurt anyone else ever again.
“If I just hadn’t brought you here. You wouldn’t be here like this, fighting for your life.” He choked up on the last word.
