My hand shook as I offered Adrian a bite of the broth. His smirk as I did so didn’t help matters. “The others should be back soon.” My traitorous voice had devolved into a whisper.
He was way too amused at my predicament. I expected him to be weaker after being drained to the point of exhaustion. “I should let Zoar feed on me more often. I like this.”
“You like embarrassing me?”
A faint frown graced his lips. “Embarrass you? I wasn’t embarrassed when I fed you. In fact I enjoyed it. I’m relishing this time alone with you. We haven’t been to be alone like for for awhile.”
I nodded. “Not since Penny.” My eyes widened. “Penny! Is he okay?”
“Of course you’d ask about him.” Adrian pouted. “Do you really think I’d let anything happen to him?”
