Chapter 36

Cara's P.O.V.

As I laid in bed, flashes of what happened on the plane ran through my head. " Get the Princess out of here" I heard someone shout. Then I felt myself being lifted up and carried into something and placed down. My side was throbbing along with my head and I felt myself succumb to sleep. I woke up later with a fright, trying to figure out where I was as I felt someone touch my hand. " My dear, your okay. I text Shawn and let him know you were here" my mother turned and smiled at me. " Thank you" I croaked out as my throat was dry. " Can I have some water please?" I said as she handed me a water cup and I slowly sipped the water as it felt like a waterfall running down my throat. " How is Ken?" I asked and my mother started to cry. " He's in critical condition, he sustained most of the injuries you would have incurred. He is in a coma right now, we can only pray he pulls through " she said as I felt tears stream down my cheek.

I turned my head to the side and just sighed, I could only pray and hope that he would pull through. He always has been there for me and even told me on the plane he would take care of me, I guess he kept his word. As my mother stroked my cheek, " it will all work out sweetheart, I know it will " she said as I nodded my head and laid back down to rest.

Shawn's P.O.V.

Vlad and I were going to take shifts watching the cabin, so if anything came up we would be ready. As I watched from a distance, I couldn't help but think about Cara. It felt like forever since I had seen her and touched her lips to mine. She was all I ever wanted, and I was going to do my damndest about getting back to her. It was about 2am according to my watch and I watched as Vlad came out and motioned for me to come out of hiding. " We switch now" he whispered hoarsely as I entered the cabin and took my boots off. I laid down on the couch and quickly drifted off to sleep.

I awoke to smelling coffee and I saw Dana in the kitchenette making some. " Would you like some?" she asked me and I nodded in return. " What time is it?" She looked up and said, " I think about 8am why?" " just need to get a move on" I said as I got up and took care of business in the bathroom. After I cleaned up, Vlad entered from outside. " We have to leave in fifteen minutes, our flight leaves in two hours" he said as I nodded. We gathered all of our belongings and got into the car. As Vlad pulled out, we noticed a car creeping down the dirt road behind us. " Vlad, you see that?" " Yes" he replied as he pushed down on the accelerator and saw the car coming closer to us.

" You have your gun?" He asked me. " Yes, why?" " You may need to go ahead and use it" he said as shots were fired at us from behind. I turned around and saw them trying to close in on us. I rolled the window down and shot at the front tire as the car turned towards the trees and flipped over. Vlad stopped the car as he and I got out. " Stay down and lock the car till we get back" I told Dana as I shut the door and she nodded in reply. We crept up to the car and the tires were still spinning and the hood had smoke coming out from underneath it. One door suddenly opened as a Russian fell out with blood all over his face, glass in his shoulder. " freeze" I yelled as he whipped his head around and tried to shoot at me but missed by mere inches. I then shot him in his other shoulder and he slumped down, " Damn!" He yelled as he held his other shoulder and laid back on the dirt. No one else in the car was alive. " Who sent you?" Vlad asked as the man spit out blood and laughed. " you know who sent me...you will have a war on your hands if you don't follow through Shawn" he said as he looked at me evily. " I can't be worried about that" as Vlad nodded at me and then shot the russian in the head. We walked back to the car and Dana unlocked it. I got in and leaned my head back as Vlad took off to the airport. I just hoped that I could get there to protect Cara before anything else happened.

Cara's P.O.V.

A few hours passed and a nurse came by as my mother stepped out to talk to my father on the phone. " Good afternoon Princess, how are you feeling?" she asked as I tried to sit up but could barely move. " Just sore, I still can't move much". " That's okay dear, I'll give you some medicine to help you relax" as she handed me a small cup of water and some tylenol. I took the medication and laid back down as my phone chimed,

Wait for me my love, I will be there soon

My heart jumped for joy when I saw that message, it meant that Shawn must be on his way. I couldn't help but put a smile on my face, seeing that message. My mother walked in and saw my smile. " Well looks like someone is in a better mood" she said as she sat down beside me. " Yes, Shawn said he is on his way" I beamed. My mother smiled for a moment then frowned. " What's wrong?" I asked her. " Well your father said that Adrian is on his way here too. When he heard about the accident, he was really upset" she said. " Mom, he is just doing all that for your benefit. I've told you how he truly is and it makes me sick to my stomach that he tries to play nice" I said as she just looked at me. " I know" she said as we heard a knock on the door and my heart leapt into my chest at the sight of it opening.
