Chapter 13

Benson's POV It is a new day and a day for another blood moon sacrifice, although we were not us d to scarifing and doing stuffs like this but ever since I got married, I now have a Luna so I am expected to do all the necessary and usual thing just like other parks. Looking down from my study window I could see that everyone was already waiting for me and come down and preside over the meeting. “Good morning Benson," Lucy greeted me trying to clean out room “morning Lucy, I will be going down for the park's meeting, make sure you take care of everyone especially June" I said heading downstairs to start the parks meeting. The next sacrifice was brought up, an adult wolf. "With their blood we shall gain their strength. There meat and blood will greatly sustain us and give one the strength of an entire pack!" One of the male werewolves said during the meeting. Not just one, but two or three adult wolves were brought forward. "A pack must be strong! Let us feast on these wolves!" another male wolve announced The wolves in the center trembled uncontrollably; I could sense there fear, and it was delicious. Most wolves in the meeting licked their lips in anticipation of the feast. The wolves around smelled of nervousness, but appeared to be weary. I howled, "Do not be nervous, but be gratfull and joyous" and with no warning Three of the wolves in the meeting lunged for the nearest wolf in the circle. Loud cries rose up and the sound of flesh being torn fataly. The scent of blood reached my nose and I litteraly lost it as well as the others. Beneath the moon the high rock was bathed in a blood bath of wolves blood. It was sickly delicious. The bodies were cast aside for those weeping and for those starving enough to touch them. My own body shook and I dropped down. Spams rocked my body and I felt as if I were changing, growling larger and stronger! Yes I was surely growlng stronger! Such delicious, delightfull, delectable power. One could not savor the feeling of it long enough. I didn' touch the rock, the blood, or the dead bodies. The wolves that had been mutilated, now dead, wore distrubed, shocked, and unpeacefull expressions. I sighed and trotted away, no longer able to look and weep over the loss. I had nown some of them. Once good, inocent wolves were now dead. I crept away from the pack and to the outer part of the house, which was close to the Ice Lake Pack. I sighed softly. Lucy was panting hard as if she'd just ran from here to the hunting grounds. I felt fur brush my side, I looked up to see Mark raced up to her side, not understanding what was wrong. "Lucy calm down" Mark snapped at her. He recoiled away from her sharp teeth. She turned away from us, but not without flickering her tail our faces, Lucy hard to tend to who Benita who appeared to be in great pain. I padded up to my nervous Beta and nudged his side. "Come on" I told him sharply. We trotted away leaving Lucy and Benita behind. A while later I heard soft footsteps on the snow and and the bush behind us rustle. Mark whirled around. "Is she okay?" he demanded to know. "Mark, enough. Just follow me" I snapped. When we returned Benita was curled around her one pup and Lucy around two very small pups. I shook my head disapprovingly. This was no place to have pups, but there was no other place. "I can't raise pups here, not with the rogues around. They'll-" Lucy began to sob. "That's while we must move soon, but we must find a spot to raise them for a few nights. They're too young to move now" Benita said. Lucy nodded understandingly and curled tighter around the pups. It was goind to be another cold night, but at least we had each other. There was still hope with each other. I left the park house to stretch. The pups were well sheltered from the icy winds out here which I was no longer used to you. I shivered as the wind blew against my back. My fur was still a bit patchy from the lack of nutrition in the past few weeks since we arrived at the park house after Lucy and I wedding. All of the sudden something pounced on my back sending me tumbling through the snow. I reacted a bit more agressive than I should have and tood a mouthfull of fur into my mouth. In response Clara whimpered. I released her, "You should have warned me" I complained. "Sorry, I didn't think you'd be so tense" she told me with a sheepish grin. She stood up and shook out her fur. It smelled a bit sweet from the blueberries she rolled in giving it a bluish color. Another sweet scent reached my nose, two wolves trotted towards us carrying two fat snow shoe hares. Alex and Wike bowed their heads in greeting. "Good to see you out of the house for once" Alex said. "It's good to stretch my legs" I replied with a gratefull tone. I sat down and licked and bite away some ice between my front paws. "How are the borders?" I asked curiously. Wike sighed, so I knew things must be rough, "Tough, they grow very close to the borders. Especialy the rogues and omega's" he told me with a disgusting tone. He was angriest, next to Mark and the other wovles, about the rogues being in pack wolf territory. Benson, my sister, added, "Alex thinks the rogues are going to atempt crossing the border for food" I snarled in rage, but not at her. "They. Wouldn't. Dare" I snarled. She recoiled slightly at my furiousity, her own fur bristled though. I wouldn't let it happen, not when we had pups to protect. In the distance I sensed something. An evil, the scent of blood being drawn, and a proud howl. I shook my head distastfully. 'To think I thought Charissa was okay at one point' I thought. From the oposite direction I heard another howl, Mark. "Time to hunt" Alex said eagerly. A dark fured form raced over the snow towards us. I grinned when I saw Blake. He lowered his head when his eyes met mine as a sign of respect. Then when his eyes went to Lucy there was a light in them that flickered for a momment. "Alex says theres a few injured elk traveling through" he said eagerly. "We're with you" Wike said with the same eager tone. "Ready, bye Benita" Mark said before sprinting away. Blake whirled around through the snow, kicking up snow on Lucy, and flicked his tail across her nose before sprinting off with her following close. I grinned, it was no lie that Lucy and Blake liked each other, even though they calm to be family members. Okay, I think I have to stop thinking stuffs like this, moreover Lucy and I got married on a contract and it was going to end after six months, even though this was just the first month. I have been busy with the park's matters that I hardly ho visit my kids at mom's place. Least I forgot to tell you, Lucy and I moved to the park's house since I was married and she is now my Luna so we were able to claim the houe. As I began walking back to the den I smelled something horribly wrong. I raced on faster. My body squeezed through the opening of the room easily. The next momment I tore down savegly on the fox that had its jaws hovering over one of the smallest pups. 'To close' I thought as I tossed it's quivering, bleeding, weak body into the river. The pups were safe, but that had been too close. Next time I won't leave the room for so long. I curled around the pups thinking how fotunant it had been they were alive and well. Next time I'd be more carefull. "Benson, I'm so glad your back" Benita greeted me as I returned to the nursery. A warm, milky scent greeted me as well. "I'm glad to be back" I replied. I hurried in out of the cold to lay by the pups. While away I missed them terribly, even if it was not my pups, but it was duty to protect them since Mark will not be around to do that, Mark and the other wovles has to protect the park's border from roguee and other intruder for only maybe a day and a halfm, or less. I didn't care about time, I only cared about the pups and the and the safety like any good mother-wolf would. I sniffed them, but noticed two of them smelled a bit sour. Even though I couldn't protect Maria, at least I should be able to do this one last thing. "Thank you Lucy for taking care of them" I thanked her. I was truly greatfull she took care of them. "No probablem, I'm glad your okay" she said. I nodded my head and moved the pups back. Two of them whimpered as they pressed closed to me for warmth. I began to wash the pups and pant their backs. Perhaps the sour scent was because they needed to be cleaned. Still the sour scent persisted and I lay down wondering if I should take them to see Mark. "How is your side, the injury better?" Lucy asked me. "It's better; although, the fur is still pretty patchy and the skin is sore" I admited. "Aw, I hope you feel better" she said, and gave me a friendly smile. She scratched her ear and lay back down on her side. I fell asleep beside the pups in the warm room, but not long later I woke up to hear coughing. It was the one pups coughing. "Benita" I called to the wolf that lay awake. "Yes Benson" she replied. "I think one of them is sick" I replied. "I and the others noticed they smelled funny, but we just thought it was because they smelled like another mother-wolf. Are you sure?" she asked me. Her eyes were full of concern and she stood up. "Lets go see Louisa who was the park's doctor" she told me. We carefully picked up the pup. I had it on my back. We raced through the snow with the sick pup while two of the pups remained in the house with Lucy and the other wolves. "Are you sure t-" she began, when her nose twitched. She stood up, and moved towards the pup. Louisa bent over and sniffed the whimpering pup, and frowned. "No, I think my pup is sick" I told her. She frowned, "huh? oh, Benson what's wrong. Is your side giving you trouble?" she asked. "Louisa!" I repeated myself a bit louder. I nudged the sleeing medicine wolf. "Louisa" I murmmered softly once I gently set the pup down. "Yes, they're sick. Please go back to the nursery, and get your rest, I'll take care of the pup. We have plenty of wolf-mint for green cough" Louisa told me. I gasped, "Green cough! no let me stay and take care of them" I protested, but deep down I knew Louisa wouldn't let neither Benita, nor I help. "It's simple, all we can do is give them herbs… and hope they recover" she said, the last part was quiet. Benita and I reluctantly left there, and went back to the house. Hey.. ….. Loveeeesss Yes!!!!!! Benson is now showing how caring he is as an alpha, so you think Benita is Mark's Mate or Benson mate. Apart from the fact that Benson has to take care of the pups because Mark is no a mission does not m an he should be too caring. …..keep reading in the next episode.
