Chapter 9

Benson's POV

Got home very late, and I just throw myself on the bed without removing my clothes or even my shoes. Luke knock woke me this morning,

“Hey, Ben so hope you finally thought about what we discussed yesterday, and less I forget make sure you come to the office today." Luke said reminding me of our conversation yesterday

"C'mon Luke, so was that you good morning and thought about what..well I will be coming to the office, but bear in mind I might never change my mind against Maria" I said

"Why do you mean by you'd think about it. You can't be considering doing it, are you?" Luke said , more like shouted actually.

Oh lord! No more headache. I just need to think. Luke is clearly not getting my point here.

"Listen, Luke we've tried all tried to look for Maria, please givng up now will be very bad. Luke it ls just 9moths and not even up to a year or even 5years that you stayed with your Father a d never gave up while he was sick, although I know we couldn't raise the money for his treatment and it's something we'd probably be able to raise only after five years." I said, trying to explain things to Luke who was so adamant.

"I know ok? I know that this isn't the best option but I'd do anything for Maria to come back, well you shouldn't refer her to my father moreover you already know how much I misses him. You know how much dad means to me." Luke said sighing heavily.

I gave me a sympathetic look. "I know ok, I know how painful it is for you to see Bernardino your dad in that position but he won't proud of what you want to do just to raise money. " I said

"Yes, I don't know much about love and romance, but I do know that a marriage without love from your partner is as good as living a ruined life." Luke added and still tried to make be change my mind towards Maria.

"She isn't anybody, Luke. She is my Mate." I replied raising my voice and began sobbing.

"Ben , other opportunities will come, don't ruin your life for anybody."

I sighed but didn't say a word because I know he is right, but I love Maria with my soul.

I wiped my tears and sat up properly.

Luke rubbed my back and I pulled he tightly to a hug. he continued rubbing my back,trying to help me calm down.

"Luke, I know I might regret my decision later but the good thing is that in the long run, my Mate will be saved from any harm and we will reunite again, and that's the only happiness I want more than the Micheal's project contract" I felt myself smile at the thought of my Maria been healthy and able that we could be able to be together with the kids andshe will probably become my Luna, then I will tell her that she is my Mate.

I miss my Maria; the way she talks, the way she disturbs my sweet sleep just to help her look at her makeup. I miss all the chit chats we used to have. I even miss her horrible coffee.

Maria and I used to discuss everything and by that, I mean I could discuss absolutely anything with her . She always understands and put me through.

Guess that's what Mates are for. She's the best. Doing this will be nothing compared to all she has done for me all my life.

Single parenthood is difficult. Maria have seen me look shattered, and miserable whenever I try to calm the girls down and most especially Malice, i have seen her lose faith in herself and God but this time, she has put her trust in me, my daughter and I'd do anything to keep that faith on while we look for her.

Maria has smiled and laughed alot in my presence. I have seen her smile, her anger, her pain and how she laughs heartily whenever her wish is fufilled, you could say I've seen her completely at her best and worst.

Yes, I still know her too well to know that the smile and laughter wherever she is will be a weak, fake and tired one.

I'd do anything and absolutely everything to make her contagious laughter come to life. Ciara was right, I'd do this for my Maria , only for my Maria.

Although, I do like Ciara and I know she'd most probably never reciprocate the feeling but I'd love to hope that maybe these 9months is God's way of making something great happen in my life.

Luke nodded and hugged me. He didn't exactly support my idea of still finding Maria, but he isn't against me either.

I think I just made my decision.

Before that, I need to ask something.

The only solution for Benson right now is to get married, either a fake wedding or a contracted on, and Lucy was the only solution. Walking down to the kitchen he called Lucy to his office in the house, and there was his lawyer and his best friend Luke, with Benson's aid Mike.

“oh…Good day everyone I guess there is something important to discuss because this room is filled with Benson's best and top pals.

“Well Lucy, you need to sit down while I explain some things to you and why you have to agree" I told Lucy while she sat on a chair which was Maria's favourite. At first I wanted to te her not to sit, but someone I will be marrying in some few house won't like that.

I explained everything to Lucy, starting from how I met Maria through a cousin Rebecca, and how our relationship was going smoothly not until someone started writing notes to her, and because Maria tried to look into the notes and how the person knew that she was a rogue and also stays in my house, and that we were preparing to make her my Luna.

Lucy's POV

"Here, sign here." Benson's lawyer said showing the agreement papers which clearly show our terms and conditions.

"Sir, I hope after starting our relationship or rather fake relationship, we don't have to do anything..umm… intimate." I said slightly embarrassed.

"Other than the little gestures like kisses on the forehead, cheeks and sometimes on the lips just to show the people and the press, we won't do anything else. I'm not into you, dont worry." He replied smirking.

Ouch, that hurts.

"I'm not worried, I believe you. Just stick to your word."

He gave me his signature smirk.

"You're acting like the typical wife already. You're jealous of Mirabelle, aren't you?" Idiot.b

"Ok ,one more thing, while we are married, you'd stay loyal to me. No girls. No flings. No Mirabelle." Oops, I didn't just say that? Just great!

He glared at me but nodded hesitantly. We both completed all of the formalities and the lawyer left us alone.

"I'm not, I'm just stating the obvious. So do you accept my terms or not?" I replied trying to sound professional.

"How many people have you told about our deal?" He asked raising his eyebrows.

"Only my best friend, Luke and be won't be telling anyone else. Relax."

"Ok, that's good because apart from me,only my best friend , and my beta knows as well. So other than those people and ofcourse, the lawyer, no other person should know."

"So from now, you'd have to act like my girlfriend. A real one if I may add. There's a party to celebrate the awardment of the contract. You'd have to come with me. "

I just nodded. I mean, it's not something to be exactly proud of that I'm getting married all for the sake of the money.

"And yes, at that party, there will be alot of rich and arrogant individuals and even sluts that have been craving for my attention. They will try to demean you, but you'd have to talk for yourself I won't be there all the time, ya know?"

I nodded again hoping he will continue.

"I already did and you need to stop calling me sir. Benson is better. I'm your fiancee, remember?"

"Yes, I know. And dont worry sir, I'd do my work properly but please pay the 500,000 to my accountacct, will you?

I nodded chuckling to myself. It feels all weird. My crush is now my fiance.

Deep down, I do feel disappointed in myself. I feel really bad that I'm doing this for money but it's of his Mate.

"Yea. So you'd have to stop working here too and yes, we'd have to keep up with the story of having dated for six months now."

"That we've been in love and all that crap. You'd try to act lovey dovey and even blush when I complement or kiss you."

The truth is that I won't have to act as though I'm blushing. I'd definitely be crimson red if he kisses me. Oh shut up!, Yes that true and it is because I have always love Benson as Maria, and I will get to understand him now as Lucy, I just hope he doesn't suspect anything at any given time.

"And yes, the party is for six tomorrow, so tomorrow, at two PM, just be ready to be taken to my penthouse. The glam squad will be there for you. They'd help you pick your dress and make sure you look decent enough for the party." I just nodded .

"So, you're fired, go home and get ready to start your acts tomorrow. And…. yes , how could I forget, you'd be moving in with me.

"Are you happy?" Katerina my new friend and roommate asked me with a soft smile.

"Yes, Kate. I'm very happy." And I wasn't lying this time. I'm indeed very happy. Benson has been nothing but a good husband and friend, always making me happy and my feelings for him keep intensifying everyday. My handsome crush.

"Its so obvious from her face." Kate replies while smiling at me.

Days before our organized fake wedding, Benson left for Germany last week on official duties, but I was sure that he was going to find Maria. Then he told me to stay home alone with his kids and his mother, even though I would have love to go to Germany with him.

"Good! I'm happy if you are, baby." He said as he wrapped me in a warm hug.

Benson said to his little daughter June.

Benson told his family and I that I would be going She's o his sister's place after his duty at the office in Germany, because she had just given birth to a lovely baby boy, so Chloe the new maid will be going with him, since she will help to look over Benson's sister baby.

From the look of things, Chloe might not be coming back anytime soon.

Since I didn't want to stay at his home all alone, I came back home to send some quality time with Benson's lovely family for the next five days to say the least. When I informed them that I'll be staying here for a few days, they were so delighted. Now that's my family.

"Let's go out today. What do you say, Lucy? All bills on us." Tess asked me with her eyes gleaming with excitement and I surprisingly agreed.

I was surprised that she and Malice agreed on something for the first time since I became their Nanny and now their father's fiancee. She, then, replied that it's only because she missed me. Fair enough.

"Yay, let's go paint the town red, guys!" Tess exclaimed, excitedly bouncing on her feet.

"But don't paint Benson's bank balance red, will you?" Benson Mom asked in a light tone causing a chuckle to escape mine and the girl's lips while Micky just snickered.

"No, I chose it first." Malice said whilst pulling the two piece black dress from Tess grip.

"No, I did first." She countered whilst pulling the dress as well. The two sisters been shopping for the past two hours, well they have, because I didn't really see anything interesting, mainly because I had already bought myself a similar design or the exact.

But then, I saw this beautiful black dress and it's just my luck that Tess liked the same dress as well. We've been arguing for nothing less than twenty minutes as to who will get the dress. June was just laughing at us. She didn't even support Malice or Tess. I mean, she was the on who saw the dress first before anyone did.

"We meet again, beautiful." A familiar voice said beside me. I turned to glance at the person and lo and behold! It was… Blake.

"Hi, Blake. Good to see you again." I replied smiling slightly and quickly giving the dress to Tess, Well I didn't agree to let her take it but I just wanted her to hold on to it for the moment. We don't want people to see that they were fighting for a dress they could easily get anywhere.

"Well, it didn't seem like that when you left some months ago, without even informing me and jilted me on our dinner plans." His face showed clear disappointment.

The smile that had appeared on his face suddenly disappeared.

That night didn't end well for me and we had to leave since neither of us seemed to be enjoying the holiday anymore. It was unexpected but the most suitable decision at the time.

I instantly felt bad. While we were at the bar, I had agreed to have dinner with him, alongside Benson, of course. I had actually planned on introducing them but seems like fate had other plans.

"I'm so sorry, Blake. Somethings came up at home so we had to leave. I'm really sorry." I lied about the reason but I indeed was sorry. If what happened didn't occur, I'd have surely introduced them but from the turn of events, I guess they already know each other.

"Sorry to interrupt, but are we invisible? Introduce us to this hot choc or should I do it myself?" Katerina, who looked star struck said whilst fixing her gaze at him and I rolled my eyes.

Despite the fact that he caught her staring, she didn't avert her gaze. If anything, she ogled even more. Trust Katerina to do such a thing.

"Uhm, yeah… Blake, meet my friends, Katerina and Mayres and my boss's kids June, Tess and Malice…and guys, meet Blake, my friend from from college."

Their eyebrows scrunched in confusion but then realization set in and they shook hands with him.

I had told them about my experience in college which was a made up story and befriending Blake although I didn't tell Katerina the outcome of that. I told Matyre, though. If I had told Katerina, the whole world would have heard about it. She would instantly stop crushing on Benson. Well, maybe I should have.

"Beautiful names for beautiful ladies." He said before kissing them each on their knuckles. After that, Katerina was being her usual self; she blushed and gave him her 'seductive' smile which earned her a smirk in return. They flirted a little before he finally turned to me few minutes later.

"And you, Lucy. I haven't forgiven you, just not until you agree to go on a lunch date with me."

I gave him a bright smile and agreed. We exchanged numbers and he promised to send me the date and time. He left afterwards, saying that he had an important meeting in the next thirty minutes.

"What?"

"What was all that about?" Myres asked me with a serious expression.

"You going out on a date and all. You're married, remember?" She gave me 'are you serious?' kinda look?"

"Yea. I know I'm married and besides, it's just a harmless lunch with a friend to say sorry for ruining our earlier plans, and also my marriage is not real." I said that on a low tone so that the kids won't hear us

Katerina pushed the trolley along and I gave her my credit card while the cashier checked the items we bought.

Katerina and I stood at a corner waiting for Mayres and the kids and she continued

"You and I both know what happened when you became just friends with him. Now, if Benson finds out you're going on a date with him, how will he react?"

"Like I said, it's not a date. It's just a harmless invitation for lunch. Besides, Benson isn't around, so there's no need to worry. Even if he was, he won't react the same way he did before. I told you, didn't I? How close we've become. He won't mind much."

She rolled her eyes and gave me her 'just be careful' look. I smiled and nodded gratefully for her understanding. This lunch is not just to apologize for not coming to dinner as promised but also to find out the history between them.

I have noticed how tense Benson gets, if I mention Blake in our conversation, so I definitely know his reaction that day was due to something else and I'd like to know exactly what that is.

I'd just ask him and everything will be fine again….or so I thought.
