Fast forward toooo...6 months later

Maria's POV

I've heard that we got a project from firm company though I heard its not fully ours just yet atleast not until he meets the requirement. I heard that around because my boss who is now Benson and i went along with others to the meeting, and I was suddenly deep in thoughts after the meeting.

He just asked for me to tell the driver the client's address which I did and after dropping me off, they just drove off.

These business tycoons and all of the strings associated with their professional relations isn't something to write home about.

I mean, why can't they just give them the contract on merit and end it there.

Speaking of awarding on merit, we deserve to be the contract because my performance was outstanding.

Benson jet black hair looks soft, I wonder what it'll feel like to run my hands through them.

I took a seat opposite him and watched him do his work with complete seriousness. He looks hot when he dresses, even hotter when he unknowingly flexes his muscles.

"Have a seat." He said whilst continuing his work on his laptop.

"You called me,sir?" I said coming inside towards his desk.

"Come in." He said in his very firm voice.

He can't even say 'please'. I shrugged and made my way towards his office and knocked on his door.

"Hello."

He's really smart. He knows every business tactics. My handsome Benson. I giggled at the thought of him.

"Miss Lucy, in my office now."Benson said and hung up.

A phone ring interrupted my thoughts.

I looked from his head down to his lips, and I realised that his lips has curled up into a smirk. Oops he caught me staring, yet again

"I…um… I am."

"Are you done ogling?" He said smirking.

What did I just say?

"Its fine… just marry me." He said with complete seriousness in his tone.

Wait what?

Benson's POV

She looked like she had just seen a ghost.

Yes I want to hire her to be my so called dream girlfriend.

Thinking things through for the past few months, it has been had without Maria. I caed all her lines and even went to see her friend, and most especially the one called Ciara, but Maria was totally lost.

I realised that none of my flings will fit the description of that lovely girlfriend of mine.

Besides, all of them were well known sluts.

None of Luke's options were right either. He kept suggesting names of some bitches from the past that I didn't even remember, the only one still in my mind was Maria. June my daughter misses her a lot and I wish they could be together again. Maybe the presence of Lucy will make a difference in the house.

After deliberating, I realised that there is no one with such character in my life. Somehow whilst eating dinner with Lucy, my mind drifted off to nichole.

Thinking things through, I realised that it wouldn't be that bad to use her and besides, she seems like someone that won't mix business with pleasure. She won't make the mistake of acting clingy or falling in love.

Although, she does ogle me sometimes but it's ok and quite normal because they all do. I'm good looking and I know it.

One more point is that she does need the money, so there's a high chance she'd take this deal.

"What do you mean, sir?"

"I mean what I just said, marry me . You will get to ogle everyday." I said jokingly putting my friendly card into play.

"Sir, that's…" She said ,getting upset. I quickly interrupted her before she says something she shouldn't.

"A joke. Relax but I'm serious about the marriage thing though. I just need you to marry me for six months and also take care of my children. "

"Umm, sir. Me? What do you mean by that and why will I even marry you and for what?" She said looking confused.

" Listen, let me break this down to you. I need you to act like my fiancee and even get married to me in a month.

Then six months after the marriage, we'd get divorced and don't think nothing is in it for you. You'd get one million dollars and a monthly allowance of 100,000 aside from the privilege you'd get as my wife. Just imagine you'd get to have all of that and in return, all you have to do is to pretend to be my lovely wife so I could get the contract. "

Maria's eyes widened for a second at the mention of just a million but she quickly comported herself.

"Sir, why do you think I'd do this. And why me when you could get any of your…….. girls to do this for you?" She said raising an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry sir, but I'm not so desperate that I'd tarnish the bond of marriage for the sake of money."

"Bring my food otherwise I will leave without it." I said jokingly to Lucy.

Lucy is my children's Nanny but she is just like a sister and a good friend to me. She tends to my every needs like a mother would. Not even my mother cares that much.

Although it kind of surprising the way Lucy acts towards me, since we just met some few months back.

Flashback

On a fateday while I was coming back from a long search of Maria just as usual, I mistakenly bump into her at the gas station where we talked and iron things out about our lives. Lucy was searching for a job, while I was searching for my love. Since she needs a job, I offered her one at my home to be my kids Nanny a d take care of them till I find Maria...but all effort to find her has been fruitless.

"You won't even dare do that." She replied trying to sound stern but ended up laughing as she retreats from the kitchen towards me .

"Now eat." She said dishing my toast and scrambled eggs neatly on a plate and pushed it towards me.

I sighed but dig in it and it tastes just as delicious as I always love it. I checked my watch and stood up drinking my tea while she tries to knot my tie.

"Thank you, Lucy. I'll see you later." I said giving a peck on the cheek and the same time carrying my suitcase.

"Ok, sir,be safe." She shouted behind me.

The driver stopped the car at the holding and I got out immediately.

I walked into the building and people started working faster than they were before they noticed me.

It is March which means the month of many contracts which means more money will be rolling in and I couldn't help but be ecstatic about it.

Of course they have to since we all know what this month means to us.

The workers will also benefit from this, they will get a double increase if we get the contracts.

There is even the a project from the Michael's builders contract that I have been chasing for years but of course to no avail.

But there is gonna be an exception this year, because this year, I have acquired more money and assets and just last month, I won the businessman of the year award which is a plus on my side.

It is the biggest building contract in the industry. They award a contract every two years and I have never been awarded in my whole nine years of being in the industry.

I will do absolutely anything to get this year's contract. If I can get this contract, my dream of expanding my empire will be fulfilled.

The Michael's contract is the best in the country and the profit rate , aside from the huge recommendation one will get, is really tempting to say the least.

Thank goodness, I finally got an assistant to handle all of my work. Hopefully, she doesn't behave like the others. I mean, I've had eight assistants in a month.

Who does that, really?

Me, i guess.

All the assistants have had so far in the past three months were always shamelessly flirting with me after the one night stand I had with each of them, one of them even went a far grabbing my cro*ch and that was it.

I was so angry. The way I threw her out of my office, I'm so sure, she won't be leaving her home for two days. That's for sure.

Ever since Maria left, I have changed to the oqrst and now of course I am a one night man and i never use a woman twice. Not happening. That's just not me.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.

"Come in." I said in a firm voice. The door opened and revealed the new assistant, ms…Mirabelle I think.

She is quite a beauty especially her green eyes which had a glow on it when I told her she got the job, when she smiled, it was like the whole room lit.

Her natural blonde hair was neatly packed into a ponytail. She is wearing a white button up shirt and black pencil skirt that stops right after her knee. Quite a professional. Nevertheless, I can still use her one of these days.

"Good morning sir," she greeted me formally before I could look any further.

She then began to check me out. After what seemed like two minutes, she was still ogling me while bitting her lip.

Guess,someone is smitten by me. I cleared my throat making her look up finally and I smirked.

Seeing me smirk, she realised that she has been caught ogling me, she blushed a little. She's cute.

"Sorry, sir, I came to report to you so you could tell me what I need to do and all. "

"Right, ms Mirabelle. See those file there, take it to your desk and arrange them in alphabetical order. I'll be needing them soon." I looked at her and she was paying serious attention then continued.

"Check with the secretary and tell her to give you all the information about my schedule. You will in turn give me a heads up if I have a meeting or appointment about thirty minutes before. You will also welcome my guests and ofcourse inform me beforehand. For now, that's all." I said in my most professional tone.

She nodded and made to leave after packing the files but stopped abruptly and faced me " uhm, sorry sir, my desk? Where is my desk?

"Thank you, sir." She said and was about to lock the door when I stopped her, "Make a cup of coffee for me. The coffee room is the last room on the right"

"Oh right, it's the room next to mine towards the elevator"

"Ofcourse, sir." She replied before locking the door and immediately, someone opened the door and it's to no surprise that its him. Luke Hunter. Oh God!

"Hey, bro" He said sounding as excited as always.

"Don't you know what they call 'respecting a person's privacy?" I said acting annoyed.

"Well, good afternoon to you too, bro, you sure know how to welcome someone, don't you?" He said sarcastically whilst taking a seat opposite my table.

I just sighed. There is no point. I know for sure that he wont badge so there is no point.

Luke Hunter is my childhood best friend. My day one buddy. Our friendship had a very weird start. We were always saving each other from trouble.

The first time we met, was in college. Yep, college. We attended the same school . He was trying to hit on a girl , trying to impress her. He even touched her or rather tried to.

Unfortunately for the silly fellow, the girl had a black belt in karate. The story of what she did and how i came in will be the story for another day because right now, I have to get rid of this problematic man.

Luke has been the one helping me out with the search of Maria, I hope he has something good to tell me today.

"What do you think of me that I always only come to you when i need something, you break my heart, Ben". He said feigning sadness.

"Now what do you want, but hope it is about Maria" I said sounding bored.

Trust Luke to get dramatic in this situation. I rolled my eyes but shut my laptop because from the look of things, he's definitely gonna be here for long. He just loves to annoy me.

Oh like I didn't know . Haha

"Well, you're right this time though, I did come here for something and it not about Maria, because I don't even think she still exist on earth, look Benson it been over 9months now and we have searched every corner for her, my advice for you is to now focus on your business an fate might bring you and Maria one-day of she is alive" I continued

"Well i came to ask you if you are still gonna drop your petition for the Michael's project this year because I'm not ."

"I am, ofcourse I am, thank God you ain't applying, the less the better." I said smirking.

"I knew it, well with the award you just bagged, it is a plus for you"

"Exactly"

"By the way, your secretary's got a cute ass. Is she new? Never seen her before?" I knew what he's hinting at, just to know if I've any present or past flings with her.

"She is new. By the way, what're you doing here, don't you have work to do?" I replied clearly ignoring his earlier remark on Mirabelle.

"Nah, I dont , You know if I do have some work, I won't be here"

"Actually, I have heard that this year, the Michaels are putting a condition on the awarding of the contract"

Right.

"Ofcourse, I know. Let me land before you bury me." He said in a 'duh' tone.

"That's not new"

"Doesn't matter. I will do anything and everything to get the contract. Besides, my chances are very high this year." I said confidently.

"Well I have heard that this year's condition is kinda tougher so.."

He sighed but continued nonetheless.

"All the best, bro and with that sexy ass secretary of yours." He said winking at me whilst standing up.

I gave him a 'you can never change kinda look'. He just shrugged and continued with his rantings.

"Come in." I said in a very firm tone which caused me to earn a glare from Ben.

"So, I gat to go, don't miss me too much and you're coming to the club right?

A knock on the door stopped from me giving him an answer.

Mirabelle dropped the coffee on my desk and left, then Luke continued

“So Ben, I one condition I held was that anyone who can marry their disabled daughter will be the winner of the contract" Luke said looking at one of the files on my table

"So Luke, are you saying thete is no chance for me to win this contract unless I marry one of the Michael's imbeciled daughter" I asked him looking confused and thinking about Maria once again.

"Yes Ben, you heard me right I know you are thinking about Maria, but you need to pull yourself together and grab these golden opportunity taht the Micheal'sare offering if you really want their daughter" Luke just as be was abouto take his leave.

“so bye Ben, and make sure you think about what I told you" Like waves goodbye after a headshake with him .

Maria is not someone I could forget and betraying her love because of money will be very greedy of me....

It was past 10pm an I was the o ly one still in the office building thinking about Luke's words and praying Maria one day comes back, so I closed for the day I went home.
