Victor POV
I pulled up to the driveway at Tori’s Cape Cod and shut the engine. I walked around to her side and opened the door for her and took her hand to help her out. I followed her to the door and watched her pull out her keys and put them in the lock and opened the door.
“Good night, Tori. I will see you….” I started to step off the porch when she caught my hand.
“Victor…. Please come in.” She pulled my hand before letting go and entering the foyer. She turned and looked expectantly over her shoulder.
“Tori, I don’t think…. “ She raised her eyebrows at me and put her hands on her hips. She was absolutely adorable looking, trying to be macho.
“Please, come in…. “ She said more sternly and stepped aside for me to enter. I guess this is her way of telling me I have no choice. Technically, she does outrank me as an Alpha’s daughter. If she gave a command, I would have to obey. I don’t think she knows that, but I’m not going to tell her that. I sighed nervously and walked into the foyer. She closed the door and locked it. She continued down the short hallway to her living area and then turned into the small kitchen on her left. I heard her open the fridge, pull out two glass bottles and return to the living room. Handing me one, she sat on the large couch and motioned for me to do the same.
“Tori…” I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do here, but I follow her lead. We stare at each other for a moment before I take a large swig of the beer she handed me and swallow hard.
“Spill” Is all she says. It suddenly gets quite chilly in the room.
“What?” I say sitting on edge, this could go really good, or really bad. “Spill what?”
“Cut the crap Victor! What did you talk to Mystic about?” Okay, this is going really bad. “I know you three spoke about me. What the hell could my wolf have to say to you two for so long? Considering she is MY wolf, and we hardly ever speak! I don’t like being left in the dark!” She was far from happy. Mystic asked us not to tell Tori anything yet. I don’t like keeping her in the dark, but there apparently was a reason Mystic is not telling her. Does she think she is not strong enough to handle it? Would her fate be changed because she knew too much? I don’t know what to do here. I don’t want to lie to her either. Sh*t! I look over at Tori with defeated eyes and she gives me a piercing gaze. Even Ivan is whimpering in my head.
“Tori… please. She asked me not to tell you anything. I think she wants to explain it all to you.” Her eyebrows shoot up and she puts her bottle on the table.
“Why is she talking now all of a sudden? She never wanted to speak before, I mean, why now?” She looks at me with those big doe eyes begging for answers. My heart breaks for her. I want to wrap myself around her and take her away from everything. I just want to make her happy, she deserves to be happy.
“I don’t know Tori, she didn’t say. I do know that she wants to tell you herself.”
“When?” I slowly shake my head and sigh.
“I don’t know, but I get the feeling it will be soon.” She flops herself back on the couch and rubs her hands down her face. I watch as different expressions cross her face until she settles on one. Her eyes go wide, and a small ghost of a smile passes her lips.
“Victor, do you… do you think… maybe…. I’ll get to meet her?” Now here’s an opportunity to see a smile on her face.
“Well, I don’t know when, but she did say that she will shift when the time is right.” I could see the sparkle in her eyes as her thoughts run wild about having her own wolf.
“What do you think she’ll look like? Will she be white? Or maybe gray and white? She’ll be big and strong!” I can’t help but smile at her excitement about meeting her wolf. So many questions she’s like a toddler learning about something new.
“I don’t know, but I do know that she will be beautiful.” Her eyes glance over to mine and she lets out a giggle.
“Yeah, she will outshine them all!” I couldn’t help but chuckle with her. “She will be very beautiful.” While she was zoning out, I can only think that she is picturing what her wolf will look like.
“Indeed, she will.” I stand from the couch and take my empty bottle of beer into the kitchen and place it by the sink. “Well Ms. Tori, I am sad to say that I must bid you good night and return home.”
Her head whips around to see me exit the kitchen and stop at the entrance to the foyer. A look of disappointment crosses her face, and she comes to walk me to the door. She opens her mouth to say something, then shakes her head and retreats. Looking up at me, she gives me a sad smile.
“I guess so, it is getting late.” I stop at the front door and before I open the door, she grabs my hand and hesitantly pulls me to her. Immediately her hands wrap around my middle as I place my hands on her hips and rest my chin on top of her head.
“I will see you tomorrow, yeah?” I can feel her head move up and down. “Good. I have patrol tonight so I must go.”
“I will come by after my shift, around four-thirty?” I she twists her head to look up at me.
“That will be fine. You’ll be just in time for dinner. I’m sure your father would like that.” She nods slowly. “Good night sweetheart.” I lean down to give her a kiss and she reaches up and grabs the back of my head and pulls me to her. Our lips touch and its like lightning. My heart is beating overtime and my knee go weak. This girl is going to send me to an early grave. God, I love the taste of her! Our lips move slow at first, before I drag my tongue across her seam, and she opens for me. Our tongues move in a sultry dance, her hands work their way through my hair as I let out a soft moan at the sensual feel of her body against mine. I can feel her trying to control herself. Before it gets too far, I pull away slowly and look her in the eye. She takes a deep breath and releases it slowly as she smiles warmly. I grin back at her and back away towards the door. Just silence for a moment before I throw her a wink and walk out the door.
I climb in my truck and shut the door. Taking a deep breath, I pull my seatbelt on and start the engine. I shift into reverse and look up to see her still standing on the porch. I give a quick wave and continue down the driveway and down the neighborhood street. I can see her still standing on the porch in my rearview mirror. My heart is heavy, and my mind is ancy. I don’t want to leave her alone, but the Alpha will have my head if I’m late for patrol. It’s my turn to lead the men on a perimeter run. The vast size of our territory makes it an all-night patrol since we have over three hundred miles of border to control. Tonight, I will be patrolling the eastern border where most of the rogue attacks have been targeting lately. It’s just over a hundred miles of border and eight hours to run. This is going to be a long night.
