Killian threw a white towel at me the moment he ushered me inside his house. I caught it against my chest as I'm already shivering because of the cold.
“You can use the room on the left,” he said, already turning toward the stairs. “ There are clothes in the wardrobe too.”
I nodded and just like that, he was gone. I released a breath and walked into the room. It was beautiful. Everything looked expensive, from the neatly arranged furniture to the flowers sitting by the windows. I headed straight for the wardrobe and pulled it open.
My eyes widened, the inside was filled with gowns and lingerie—most of them so revealing that I immediately pushed them aside.
Of course. Killian had a reputation as the biggest playboy Alpha in the entire school. Apparently, even that reputation wasn't enough to keep girls away from him.
I spotted a black gown tucked between the others. It was simple compared to the rest, and thankfully, it didn't look like something designed to attract attention.
“This is better,” I muttered, placing it on the bed.
After taking a quick shower, I slipped into the dress. It hugged my body, but at least it wasn't revealing. The last thing I needed was for Killian to think I was trying to seduce him.
This was just a game.
I needed him to pretend to be my boyfriend, and after some time, we'd end it. Nothing more. That's what I kept telling myself.
I made my way downstairs and found him sitting in the living room, he was completely engrossed in his laptop. I walked over and sat on the couch opposite him. “Thanks for letting me in.”
He paused.
Then shut his laptop and lifted his eyes to me. “So, you're asking me out now?”
His cold voice sent a shiver down my spine.
“I... It's not real.” I swallowed. “I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend because you're the only person who can challenge Jason.” I defended.
He let out a soft chuckle. "I thought you hated me.” His lips curled slightly. “You should hate being my girlfriend too.”
There was enough sarcasm in his voice that made my jaw tighten.
“Yes, I did. Because of how arrogant you are".
And because you always make Jason look inferior and like a loser.” I lowered my voice on the last part.
Killian lifted his eyebrow. “Fine.” He leaned back to the couch. “If I help you get what you want, what do I get in return?”
His eyes settled on me, which made me shift uncomfortably.
“I don't know what you would actually like,” I admitted. “I haven't exactly been watching you.”
A slow smile appeared on his face. “I'm sure you know the rumors surrounding me.”
His eyes roamed over my body before stopping higher up. I followed his gaze.
My eyes widened as I fled my hands to my chest, clutching the fabric tightly.
“What was that?” I sprang to my feet.
Killian only smirked. Of course, he always knew exactly how to get on my nerves.
“I'll let you know my desires tomorrow,” he said, standing up.
He picked up a car keys from the counter. “Where are you going?” The question slipped out of my mouth.
He glanced at me. “Do you plan on sleeping here tonight?”
“Oh.” I muttered and followed him towards the garage.
One thing was obvious, Killian wasn't just rich he indeed lived up to his name as the Alpha.
The expensive cars in the garage was enough to remind me of that.
“What are you staring at?” he snapped after reversing the car. “Get in.” I rolled my eyes and climbed inside.
I doubted I'd ever get along with this man's attitude. When we reached my dorm, he brought the car to a stop.
“Thanks, Killian.”I reached for the door.
“Be ready by eight. I'll send someone to pick you up.”
I turned back to him. “Don't you usually come to school with your friends?”
“ just do what you are told, If we really want this to work, we have to convince them that this is real.”
He looked at me briefly. “Just be ready. And don't keep him waiting.”
I nodded.
As I stepped out, his voice stopped me.“You can keep the dress.”
I glanced back at him. Before I could respond, he drove away.
I sighed. I know he was just trying to get under my skin.
“Ahhh!”
I nearly jumped out of my life when I turned around and found Rosie standing right in front of me.
“Who's that?” she asked.
“It is...” I stammered. Rosie pointed toward the road Killian had just left.
“The last time I checked, the only person who drives a customized car like that is your worst enemy.” Her eyes widened. “Did you just come out of his car?”
“Listen, Rosie. I have something to tell you, but this isn't the right time. Just give me some time.”
“Some time?” She narrowed her eyes. “I've been worried sick about you. You suddenly disappeared after what happened.”
“Can we just go inside, please?” I pleaded. “I'll explain everything.”
The moment we entered the room, I slumped onto my bed. Rosie stood in front of me, and crossed her arms.
“You can start explaining.”
I swallowed at her tone. “The thing is... Killian is my boyfriend,” I muttered.
My hand trembled, so I quickly hid it behind my back. The words tasted bitter but I couldn't bring myself to tell her the truth, not after Alyssa and Jason's betrayal.
Rosie burst out laughing. “You expect me to believe that?”
She paused, staring at me. “I know how much you two hate each other. For f**k sake, the entire school knows.”
“That's the truth.” I convinced.
“For how long has this been going on?” she asked. "we've been together for a week.”
“A week?”
I nodded quickly. “We decided not to make it official because of Jason.” I forced an alluring smile.
She came to join me on the bed “I'm glad everything has finally ended.” her expression changing to a warm smile.
She studied me for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh. “Just be careful. I only want you to be happy.”
She pulled me into a tight hug.I hugged her back, pressing my lips together as my eyes burned. But I refused to let the tears flow, surely not in her front.
---
The loud blaring of my alarm dragged me out of sleep the next morning.
I groaned and reached for my phone I noticed Rosie was already gone for class.
I checked my messages it was empty,
No new messages.
No missed calls.
Nothing from Jason.
My chest tightened because Somewhere inside me, I had been hoping he'd call.
But staring at the empty screen made everything painfully clear between us.
My thoughts drifted to Killian.I had no idea what kind of trouble I was getting myself into.
I somehow had a feeling this fake relationship was going to be far more complicated as I wondered what could be his requests.
I pushed the thought aside, got out of bed, and started getting ready for class.
An hour later, a car horn sounded outside which made my heart to speed up fast. I already knew who it was.
I grabbed my bag and stood in front of the mirror.
I hesitated for a moment and starred at myself in the mirror, I chose a body-hugging blue gown it made my curves more visible, it's usually not my style. It actually belongs to Rosie.
If I was going to pretend to be Killian's girlfriend, I might as well look the part at least.
That was what I told myself before heading outside. I saw that killian is already sitting inside the car.
“Good morning,” I greeted and climbed in. He didn't spare me a glance just he was focused on his phone.
He was dressed in loose black pants and a white shirt, his curly hair falling over one side of his face.
He looked annoyingly good.
I quickly looked away. Ryan, his Beta, was behind the wheel.
“Hi, Ryan.” He glanced at me through the mirror and smiled.
“Hi, Seraphina. I didn't know you knew my name.”
A warm smile spread on my lips “Of course I do since we'll be seeing each other often now.”
Ryan chuckled. The car continued toward school.
But the moment we reached the school gate, Ryan suddenly brought the car to a stop.
I frowned because Killian never stopped at the gate. He usually drove straight into the school compound, and the security guards always let him through without question.
So why were we stopping now?
I looked outside. Students were already gathering around the gate, fixing their attention on the car.
Ryan quickly stepped out and walked around to Killian's side and opened the door.
“Don't step down,” Killian
said to me. “I'll handle the door.”
I suddenly realized exactly what Killian was about to do. If we wanted everyone to believe we were together...
He was about to make sure they did.
