Inspector West read the email updating the toxicology report. The analysis had identified traces of alcohol and 7-amino flunitrazepam, a residue component of flunitrazepam, in Josie’s blood. The pathologist had added a note informing him that flunitrazepam, a drug prescribed for severe insomnia under several brand names, also had a reputation as a date r**e drug. It was known to be available on the black market in a form that dissolved quickly, leaving no visible trace, odour or taste. The ideal candidate for something to slip into a drink, especially if you wanted your victim unconscious, relaxed and with no memory of what had happened when she woke up, if she woke up.
Carl called Nina into his office and showed her the print out of the email.
