The evidence, extracted from the computers left behind by Mark Rodrigo and Frank Kingston, revealed that they had belonged to that select group which exploited its skills to plunder other people’s accounts through cyberspace, and to trade in stolen credit cards and identities.
The trace of the hack into their system led to a server, connected to the Russian mafia, buried deep within the dark side of the Internet. When the Organised Crime team investigator located a file containing thousands of credit card details, that appeared to have come from that same server, on the computer used by Frank Kingston, he called Inspector Reid.
‘Inspector, I think we might know why Rodrigo and Kingston got themselves killed. It looks like they got a little too greedy.’
