Chapter 7 - Twins?

Daniel's office was qutire spacious and had a minimalist design. The two couches in the office which was separated by a coffee table was their destination, Olivia and Alex went to sit on one while Daniel and Isabella tacitly took the other.
After making sure she sat at the other end of the couch, away from Alex, Olivia leaned against the couch lazily, planning to ignore the three burning gazes which seemed to want to see through her into her soul.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.
She gave up! She definitely couldn't stand it so she sat upright and glared at the trio who were blatantly staring at her and asked with annoyance in her tone.
"What the hell do you people want? If you wanna ask me questions then shoot instead of simply staring at me!"
Isabella's cold face was the first to c***k on listening to her words, as she stared straight at her and asked with disbelief in her voice, "Are you not curious at all?! We look alike! You and I, literally the same face and voice! Don't you wanna know why?"
Olivia also stared back at her before withdrawing her gaze the next second and answered carelessly.
"If I had to admit it, I would say I am indeed a little bit curious but that's it. It's just a little bit, the kind of little bit that means it makes no difference to me whether I know the reason or not after all the curiosity bone in my body has always been lacking."
Isabella looked at her speechlessly probably wondering where this weirdo had come from because if a normal person had found out and met someone who looked exactly like her, wouldn't they be curious about the other person?!
Even Alex looked at her strangely on hearing those words and if he had known Isabella's thoughts he would have totally agreed with her. This girl was really strange! Only Daniel showed little surprise at her words after all he was still much more familiar with her than the other two.
Olivia continued in a casual tone, "...And maybe I had done plastic surgery on my face or we could be twins. Who knows…"
Daniel's face stiffened when he heard her mention 'plastic surgery' especially when she had even gave him a faint glance when she said it. He knew she was taking a shot at him for the question he had asked earlier which had made her want to slap him, before Isabella's timely call had saved him.
Unbeknownst to them, Alex had caught their interaction. In particular, when Olivia had given Daniel a faint glance and who knew what he thought of, as his lips curled up into a smirk while a scheming glint flashed in his eyes.
On the other hand, this was the first time Isabella had seen someone who was rushing to claim she had done a face surgery, after all who among the girls she knows doesn't deny that they ever did plastic surgery even when it was so obvious that it couldn't even be more obvious that they did!
And would she not even be able to tell if someone had done the surgery or not? She had interacted with dozens if not thousands of people who had done it and if she still couldn't tell someone who had done it from one who hasn't, then she wouldn't deserve her title as a genius instead she would just be plain stupid!
So... That leaves only one conclusion. Could they really be twins?
Isabella felt a subtle emotion sprout out in her heart on thinking that the girl sitting across from her might be her twin. This made her somewhat impulsive and she blurted out a question.
"Are you adopted?"
Olivia glanced at her with disdain when she heard this dumb question and suppressed the impulse to roll her eyes. Daniel and Alex were also rendered speechless at Isabella's question as who would ask a stranger if they were adopted on the first day they had met even if that stranger happened to look exactly like you?!
"Why can't you be the one who was adopted?", They then heard Olivia ask casually.

Isabella's eyes widened as she stood up and denied in a firm tone, "That's Impossible!"
The other trio looked at her speechlessly especially when they heard the vehement denial in her voice. Daniel and Alex even started to wonder if she was still the girl they knew who had been hailed as a genius from a young age and has not been swapped, if not why does she seem slightly foolish now...
And it was obvious that Olivia was just playing around with her but she actually took it seriously!
Isabella also realized her gaffe just now, as moments ago she had asked another person if she had been adopted but when the same question was posed to her, she had such a huge
reaction to it. She covered her face in shame and slumped back on the sofa making the hearts of Daniel and Alex who had grown up with her and was not used to seeing her this way uncomfortable.
Daniel who was sitting next to her felt helpless and shifted closer to her. He then took her into his arms and patted her back, comforting her silently. He knew that she wasn't really the cold or arrogant person everyone thought she was but was a kind and warm girl inside.
Her outburst could be related to her uneasiness at the whole bizarre situation making her to end up losing control of her emotions and composure.
Olivia watched the two of them expressionlessly and didn't notice Alex getting closer to her...
