9 THE REALITY OF THE MATTER JOHN Our food arrived a couple of minutes after we’d received our drinks. We enjoyed the meal and left. It was early in the evening when we got into the car. It was time to take Claudia home. My phone went off. It was Joseph. I set the phone on the mount facing the dashboard, so Claudia could see it was him. I pulled out of the parking space and drove out into the street. “John here,” I answered. “So, how did it go?” he asked. Claudia gazed over quizzically.
