Chapter 4-What an angel!

1057 Words
Harmony’s POV. I came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me. If not for that kind man who helped me earlier, only God knows what would have happened to me by now. He even offered to fix my car for me. Maybe good people still do exist. I sat on the bed and began applying lotion on my skin, trying to relax my mind. My phone rang beside me. I picked it up and saw my mother’s name flashing on the screen. Honestly… I had already forgiven her, even though I hadn’t told her yet. And I still hadn’t told her I was moving away. I answered the call, placing the phone between my shoulder and ear as I continued applying lotion. “Hello, sweetie,” she began softly. “Hi, Mom. How are you?” I replied. “I’m good. You?” “Same as you.” There was a short pause. “Umm… Harmony?” she called gently. “Yeah?” “I came to your apartment today… and a neighbor told me you moved out. Is that true?” I paused for a moment. “Yeah, it’s true,” I said, nodding slightly even though she couldn’t see me. Another silence followed. “Will I… will I see you again?” she asked, her voice quieter now. “Yes, Mom. You will.” A brief pause settled between us again. “I am so sorry for everything that happened… and for staying silent,” she said, her voice shaking slightly. “It’s okay,” I replied softly. “I’ve forgiven you. If I were in your shoes, I probably would’ve done the same.” “I have to go now, but I’ll call you later and tell you more. I love you.” My mother let out a small laugh through her tears. “I love you too, baby.” I smiled warmly and ended the call. I loved my mother deeply, and I didn’t want anything to come between us. She had truly tried to fix our relationship, so I decided to let it go. My stomach rumbled loudly. I placed a hand over it and glanced toward the door. I was hungry. I wanted to leave the room and get something to eat, but that man’s girlfriend had a very mean attitude. I had observed her earlier on the way in—she didn’t even try to hide it. Not even a little. I wasn’t afraid of her… I just didn’t want to be embarrassed. My stomach growled again. I checked my bag, hoping I had packed some emergency snacks, but there was nothing. With a sigh, I fell back onto the bed. Today really was complicated. A knock sounded at the door. “Who is it?” I asked. “It’s me.” I let out a small breath of relief. It was him. Not her. For a second, I had thought it might be her. “Come in,” I said. He walked in holding a tray with a full plate of spaghetti and a bottle of water beside it. “Oh my gosh… thank you so much,” I said quickly, sitting up and taking the tray from him. “No problem,” he replied calmly. “I didn’t get your name, by the way.” “Oh… my name is Harmony.” “Nice name,” he said with a small smile. “Thank you,” I replied casually, a faint smile tugging at my lips. “What about you? What’s your name?” I asked. “Ryan,” he said. “Ryan Mercer.” Mercer. The name sounded familiar… but I couldn’t place where I had heard it before. “Well… Ryan, thank you for your hospitality. It means a lot,” I said sincerely. He waved his hand slightly. “It’s nothing.” “Oh—and yeah, your car just came. It’s already fixed.” My eyes widened slightly. What an angel! “Thank you so much,” I said gratefully. “No problem. I’ll see you in the morning,” he added. I simply smiled in response as he turned and left, closing the door behind him. I sat there for a moment, staring at the food in front of me. God really sent help at the right time. If not for him… I would probably be a mess right now. ********** Ryan's POV. I leaned against the kitchen counter, quietly watching Vanessa in her silk nightdress as she searched through the fridge for a drink. She looked beautiful. Almost impossible to resist. I licked my lips slightly, already imagining how tonight could have gone if we weren’t arguing. With my hands tucked into my pockets, I took slow steps toward her. The moment I reached her, I placed my hands gently on her waist. She let out a small sigh while holding a bottle of water. “Leave me alone, Ryan,” she muttered. “I know what you want, and I’m not in the mood.” I closed the fridge door and turned her around gently so she was facing me while leaning against it. “Are you still mad at me?” I asked softly. “Yes, I am,” she replied sharply. I smiled faintly. She folded her arms and looked away. That was usually how I knew she had already started forgiving me. “I’m sorry, my love,” I said quietly. “I was wrong.” Even though part of me believed she was the one at fault… I still had to apologize. If I didn’t, she would complain to my mother. “Baby… I’m sorry,” I said softly. She rolled her eyes like she was still annoyed, but I noticed the corner of her mouth twitch slightly as she tried to fight back a smile. “Come on,” I teased gently, moving my face closer to hers. “I know you’ve forgiven me. I can see it.” She tried to resist smiling, but failed. “Ughhh…” she groaned dramatically. “Fine. I forgive you.” A smile spread across my lips immediately. I lifted her up playfully, and she laughed as she wrapped her legs around my waist. The tension between us slowly faded as we shared a brief kiss.
