As Amelia wore the shoes and stood up and took some steps, the heel of one of the shoes suddenly broke.
"Ooh my goodness," she muttered as she slipped.

Fortunately for Amelia, the wall was still nearby, and taking hold of it, she was able to regain control and stop herself from falling down and maybe breaking her knee in the process.
