---POV Brenden---
Psssh! I can’t believe this! How can my brothers choose that girl over me?! Yet another thing I was pushed out of the voting circle for. I just don’t understand how this keeps happening. “Arg!” I slammed my hand into the punching bag in front of me and it went flying.
“Woah, babe that was intense.” I slowly turned around as my wolf growled at the threat coming near me.
“What the hell?! It’s just Vanessa. Why did you growl at her?” I snapped at my wolf.
“Because you are pushing our mate and our brothers away over a girl who has slept with half the pack!” He shot right back.
“The hell?!” I added. “I didn’t see this concern from you a week ago when she gave us that…lovely welcome home present.”
“That’s because I made sure to block your antics before I made you throw up our lunch.” With that he disappeared again. Am I surprised my wolf is being distant with me? Not in the slightest. It’s so easy for him to fight me. It was really starting to get old.
“Baby?” Vanessa whined. I looked down at her with a raised brow.
“What is it, Vanessa?” I asked through my teeth before turning away from her and grabbing another sandbag while the original laid on the floor many feet from us, oozing what was left of the sand inside it.
“I heard from some of the warriors that you were in here and I thought I’d come by to see if you were okay.”
Clicking my teeth, my fist slammed into the new bag that went flying just like the last one had before I turned my anger towards her. “Do I look okay?!”
She raised her hands and shook her head. “I-I sorry Brenden. I just –”
“That is Alpha to you. All you are to me is a good lay and a great distraction. Do not get it twisted.”
A tear pricked the corner of her eye as she looked at me in shock. “You don’t mean that Brenden. Is it because you found your mate?! Everyone in the pack is talking about it. It’s some stray that barged into our pack two years ago. No one has even seen her outside of Sal’s garage until now and she thinks she has a claim on my boyfriend?! How do you think that makes me feel?! Not to mention I’m being yelled at and called a ‘good lay’ by the one person who has my heart! How could you?!”
“I’m not your boyfriend! I can do whatever I want Vanessa! Neither you or some stupid rogue have a claim on me. Not now or ever!” I shouted. “Be gone!”
“Go to hell!” She shrieked.
I laughed with absolutely no humor. “You first.” She screamed at me before running out of the gym and into the crisp night air. I sighed heavily and rubbed the sweat off my face. I guess I have to find another girl to warm my bed.
“I don’t want anyone else but my mate. If you decide to cheat on her, I will disappear. This time for good.”
“I wouldn’t even have this conversation with you if I didn’t have to worry about my brothers standing in the way of me rejecting her. I would have put her out the minute our eyes locked this morning. I want nothing to do with that girl and I mean it. Deal with it or you can just disappear now.” I growled. He can’t fight me forever. Whether he likes it or not, I’m his human and he better start acting like it.
After a few minutes of silence, I knew he would leave me alone and I got back to finishing my workout. There were so many pests to deal with in one day. If I don’t get this rage out of my system, there will be hell to pay.
Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of that girl without my brothers finding out. “I can help you there.” A voice called out.
I spun on my heels and looked around the room. That voice didn’t come from my wolf, but it definitely answered a query I only thought in my mind. “Who’s there?!” I called out shifting my eyes around the dimly lit room.
“Oh hush now. I’m trying to help you. It seems like we both have a goal in mind to get rid of a certain girl that is a pain in both our sides.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Ophelia Hawthorne. You want her gone and so do I.”
I slowly walked over to my bottle, thankful I had put it down next to a wall. Now I could see the whole gym and cover my back. This could all be a trap. “What do you know about her? Will she bring a threat to my pack. If so, I will kill her and you.”
“Your pack?” The voice’s baritoned pitch echoed through the room with laughter. “Last time I checked, You are the youngest of the four. The one that people see as the problem child. How can you be worried for your pack when you are just as much of a threat to them as she is? I mean honestly, it’s all here...in your mind. I can see your bloodlust. You want your brothers gone as much as you want the girl to disappear.”
“Show yourself!” I shouted.
“Ahh…. Not even going to correct me. I was right again.”
“You said you could see my thoughts. What’s the point of hiding from you when you can see everything?”
“Smart boy. I can also see how you can get out of the bond with your mate.”
“Tell me everything.” I growled. What the heck. I might as well see what they can do. I know one thing is for sure. My brothers have always been a thorn in my side. Right down to their ridiculous idea of leaving our academy to go to this dump back home. Now they want me to accept another pain in my ass. I’m done. If this creature can help me remove this problem, I’m all for it.
“Good…. Good. For now, there is nothing to tell, but I promise I will call when I need you. You will not have to wait long.”
“Do I really have to go along with all this mate crap while I wait for you to call? Thanks to her, I lost the best lay I’ve had in months.”
“No of course not. The more she hates you, the better.”
I laughed lightly and nodded before walking towards the exit. “Pleasure doing business with you.” The voice’s laugh filled the air once again before fading into the background.
“I don’t like this.” My wolf growled.
“Ha! It’s sad really.” I said with a sigh as I let the cool air graze over my skin.
“What is?”
“You don’t really see it.”
“See what?”
“How much I hate them, and I hate her! If I have something to say about it, I will never let that girl ball and chain me to my brothers forever. I’m my own person and it’s about time I start acting like it!”
