I fought back tears as I ran up to my room and shut the door behind me. There was no way I was going to marry a total stranger. Worse, I had only known his name and I had been told just today that I was getting married to him. The thought that I was pregnant came to me again and again, hitting me like a tidal wave as more tears rolled down my eyes. Slowly my knees buckled, and I found myself falling on my back leaning against the door. The day passed by like a hurried wind and I found solace in sleeping only to wake up the next morning and tell myself that I was going to find this stranger and put an end to all this. I had already made a complete fool out of myself. My parents hadn't found out about it yet because not only was it going to break their hearts, but it was also going to give Layla so much joy that she was going to be put into deep embarrassment. I took a hurried bath, I skipped breakfast, my feet descending the stairs slowly so as not to attract attention to myself. Fortunately, no one was in the living room and I dashed out of the house when I found myself at the bus stop. I jumped into the nearest available cab, heading to the hotel. I had so many unanswered questions, and I was hoping I could get answers. " I don't think that the address you gave to me is the right one." The driver said, stopping outside another unfamiliar hotel. I got out of the cab and stared at the hotel in front of me, and it was obvious this wasn't the hotel I had left weeks ago. Immediately, I felt so stupid and slapped my temple softly. "I'm so sorry for the stress and confusion," I said, handing over his money to him. I stood there watching him as he started the cab and drove the cab out of the premises, leaving behind a cloud of smoke and dust. " Shit." I cursed under my breath as I noticed how stupid I was again. What was I thinking when I decided to come here in the first place and, besides, what was I going to tell you about your receptionist at the hotel when I saw her? I got there with a random stranger, and we had a one-night stand, and now I was pregnant, I went to Thinking about it made me look more stupid. It was at that moment that I realized that, but not only had I failed and embarrassed myself, but I had done the same to my family. My father was a very popular billionaire and imagine when the news like this gets out I will be forced to be dragged into a scandal. I turned around to leave after standing there like a statue for 30 minutes. I wasn't watching where I was going and as I made to cross the road I almost had a collision with a fast-moving car. Thankfully the driver immediately applied the brakes before damages could be done. " What is that supposed to mean?" The driver cursed under his breath before he came out of the car. I was standing there like a wet stray cat waiting to hear the insult of my life and I had already attracted just a handful of attention when the most handsome man I had ever seen in my life stepped out of the car. His jet black hair was slicked back, his strong jaws led to thin sensual lips that could even kiss one's pain away, and his eyes were so sharp and icy cold grey that it seemed they were looking right into my very soul. "I'm so sorry."I said hastily." It was a mistake and I was a bit distracted." He said nothing as he viewed his car checking for any damages he gave me one last dirty look before he got into his car and zoomed away I sighed in relief silently grateful that I hadn't gotten myself into more trouble. This was a sign that my search was going to be fruitless and I was merely wasting my time. When I glanced down at my wristwatch my eyes bulged in surprise. It was 10:30 am and that meant one thing the whole family was awake and we were probably in search of me. I flagged down a cab and jumped into it rattling my address to the driver as the car sped the way to the mansion. By the time the cab pulled in front of the mansion something kept telling me that I was in bigger trouble than I had expected. My mind raced as I searched for lies and excuses to give but none was forthcoming. I was told into the empty living room I was about to thank my stars that I was safe when I had muffled voices from the larger living room which was used to entertain important guests. The voices were that of my father and someone who had a rich sexy voice. I was hiding behind a pillar waiting for the next move to run up to my room when I heard a voice behind me. "Where are you coming back from?" it was my stepmother and her icy tone almost made me jump out of my skin. " I- I went to the mall." I stuttered. She raised her brows and muttered." Pathetic stupid liar. Anyways your husband-to-be is here to see you." She regarded me through her lashes like I was a rag before saying."come with me." I followed her like a sheep to the s*******r into the larger living room and there was Dad and a tall man with broad shoulders who was looking out of the window. "Here she is." he beamed."my lovely daughter." I rolled my eyes artist sarcasm. " Your husband-to-be." He gestured and slowly the man turned around and at that very instant my heart seized. " You?" It was no one person but the man I had collided with hours ago.
