I opened my eyes as light filtered through the large window. For the first time in give Yeats I had slept peacefully with no nightmares. I was rested and ready for the day that lay ahead of me. Nana's services was today. I threw back my blanket and pulled myself put of bed heading for the bathroom. Smells from my childhood surrounded me as I walked through the cottage. I knew Nana was here with me. I stopped at the door of the bathroom and turned Ed my head to the closed door to the right. Nana's room. It's were she had spent her last moments on this earth. My feet seemed to have a Lind of their own as they made their way to the door. My hand landed on the brass knob and I turned it opening the door. Stepping inside my heart stopped. My eyes grew wide and a sob got stuck in my throat. No one had yet told me how Nana had passed, though I knew by my mother's tone I was in an unnatural way. Her large four-poster bed that was always wrapped in her cream colored blanket was now soaked in a crimson liquid. Spatters of it clung to the walls and soaked through the carpet. Who had done this? WHAT had done this? As my grief finally hit me and I broke down crying every tear I had in my body. I set to work ridding her beautiful room of this awful m******e. I stripped the room of everything and took it down to the stream were Nana's washboard lay. I set to work ridding her favorite blanket of every stain, until my hands ached from scrubbing so hard. When it was spotless I rung it put and threw it over the line to dry, along with her sheets and pillowcases. I then set to work washing the walls and scrubbing the carpet. Three hours later her room looked as it always had. Satisfied with the job I had done I walked over to her vanity w we re her jewelry box sat. I wanted to borrow her pearl necklace to wear today. I opened the large jewelry box that held all her sentimental items. All items bought for her by her parents or my Papaw, her husband. I placed my hand under the drawer and pushed until I heard a click. Her pearls were her mist prized possession and she kept them hidden, only I knew where they were. A pearl necklace and earrings fell into my hand as the drawer slid open. But that wasn't the only thing. When I pulled my hand back a folded piece of paper sat atop my hand. I hesitated for a moment before slowly unfolding the paper. My Nana's familiar writing clung to the paper in a blue-colored ink. To Katya My name was written at the top. She knew I would be the only person to find this. She knew I was the only one who knew where her pearls were hidden.
