Something in the Air - Epilogue

518 Words
Epilogue Vaughn I took the stairs two steps at a time with my suitcase in hand. Our neighbor, Mr. Smith, looked out the door, ”Home for Christmas?” ”Yes, indeed I am, two weeks' vacation with my girls.” I grinned back at him. ”Emily, I'm home!” I yelled and closed the door with my foot. ”f**k honey, it's freezing outside.” I put my suitcase and bag on the floor and divested of the hat, gloves, coat, and boots. ”We're in here with hot cocoa and fire in the fireplace.” The f*****g best feeling in the world was coming home to these two or should I say three. Our golden retriever puppy wagged its tail in joyful greeting in the doorway to the living room. After we had reunited back in May, we had decided to give "us" a chance. We started by having a long-distance relationship where I traveled to Denmark as often as I could, and Emily went to London once in a while. Her due date had approached alarmingly fast and the time where she couldn't travel by plane, and we'd had to make a decision. My work and schedule fit like hell with family life, but wonderful Emmy had been willing to give it a chance. Fast on the trigger, she had uprooted her company and moved it to London. Already her clients were in various countries. We hadn't exactly come to an agreement about my job. I traveled a lot, but it didn't seem as though she had problems with being alone. Sometimes I got the impression that she couldn't wait for me to be out the door so she could work. I smiled to myself as I took in the sight that awaited me. Emily was relaxing on the couch with a sleeping Sara on the nursing pillow. "She's done, but I couldn't bring it over me to move her." I eased myself down next to them and stroked our beautiful daughter's dark baby hair and leaned in to kiss my gorgeous girlfriend. ”Wow, you are a sight for sore eyes, I'm the world's luckiest man.” I looked at Sara's mouth using Emmy's breast as a pacifier and whispered, "You are lucky Miss. If I didn't love you so very much, I'd be one jealous bastard." ”Later, baby, later.” I kissed Emily on the nose, slid my arm around her back and drew her to me. ”What are you watching?” ”The Holiday with Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black. The perfect Christmas movie, if you have watched "Love Actually" a million times. They all find love when they least expect it." Merry Christmas Thank you for having read this Christmas novella about finding love when you least expect it. I hope you have enjoyed the sweet story between Emily and Vaughn preferably under a cozy blanket with hot cocoa or tea to warm you on a cold winter night.
