2. Chloe’s POV I could feel my heart thumping in my chest, threatening to explode, as tears poured from my eyes. I saw it with my two eyes, but I still can’t believe it. He made an attempt to come close again and I moved back. “Don’t you dare come close to me, Mike!” I snapped again as my voice shook, the heartbreak eating me whole. “Chloe, you have to calm down. There’s no need to be this dramatic over me having a little fun.” He coaxed, and my blood boiled as my fists tightened. “How dare you call cheating on me “fun” Mike? Do I mean nothing to you? Are my feelings just your playground? How can you throw away everything we shared just like that?“ I asked, clutching to my chest. My heart was so heavy, I felt like it was going to fall from my chest very soon. “I don’t think you owe her any explanation, Mikey,” The lady he was with got down from the bed and in my presence, he wrapped his hand around her waist. I bit my lower lip to suppress my tears as they went into a hot kissing session in my presence. And to think, this was the man I gave my all to. I dedicated my years and life to him, only for me to be treated like this? How could he do this to me? They pulled away, and she looked at me with pure disgust written all over her face. “Chloe Zander, you really think you’re so smart, huh? You gave your all to him, thinking he loves you so much when you were just a substitute for me,” She chuckled, and I shook my head frantically. “That’s not true!” She walked to where I stood and looked into my eyes. “Mike has always loved me and been with me during the five years of your relationship with him. We used the money and gifts you sent him to take care of ourselves. I’m his main girlfriend, baby girl. You were just a foolish side chick, desperate for love, and Mike showed you that. Before we knew it, you had fallen for him, and we couldn’t just waste the opportunity, knowing that you’re a working-class woman,” She laughed as I covered my mouth, the tears I was desperately trying to fight back found their way down my cheeks. “We used your money, and used your head at the same time. Aren’t we amazing?” She laughed. “No, that’s not true! Tell me it’s not true!” I faced Mike to get an explanation from him, but he frowned at me instead. Who could believe the man that once looked at me with love would give me such a disdainful look one day? “It’s true, Chloe. I lied to you. I never loved you. The only reason I stuck with you was because of your money,” My heart broke with every word that came out of his mouth. “Another reason was because of the penthouse you bought. I knew how crazy in love you were with me and I knew that if I asked you to transfer the ownership to me, you would, so I used that to my advantage. Now that the penthouse is in my name, you can get the f*****g shitty hell out of my house!” He snapped and my eyes widened. I soon realized how foolish I was and how true everything Freya said was. I was so blinded by love that I gave him everything without thinking twice or even making a backup plan. How could I be so foolish? No wonder he was persistent about me giving him the penthouse. “You played me and deceived me? How more wicked can you be?” I rushed to him and grabbed him by the collar, but he pushed me to the ground, causing my head to hit the wall. “You threw yourself at me, Chloe. You’re the foolish one here. Now get out, I don’t want to ever see you again!” He snapped. I touched the side of my head that hit the wall and saw that it was bleeding. I looked at them, but they didn’t give a damn about me. I snickered and stood to my feet, anger surging through my veins. “I thought I found love in you, Mike. I had no idea you were no different from other people out there. I’m going to get my penthouse back and make you pay for everything you’ve done to me; for playing me all these years and using me for your selfish gains, I will make you pay. Now, hand over my credit card to me!” I snapped at him, trying to sound brave when I was actually dying inside. He chuckled and went to his drawer. He picked the credit card from there and threw it at me. “Take that and get out of here, you cheap b***h! Don’t ever show your face here or in the penthouse ever again, you know why? Because it’s mine and hers now. Right, Bertha?” He pulled the lady to himself and s*****d her ass in my presence. She chuckled and they kissed again. I used my hands to wipe my tears as I picked the credit card from the floor with shaky hands. I looked at Mike with teary eyes. “I regret the day I met you, Mike. I curse the day I chose to believe your lies and fall in love with you. I will make sure you suffer ten times what I’m suffering right now. You won’t go unpunished. I’ll get a lawyer and have my penthouse returned to me.” “Only a person with money can afford a lawyer and revenge, not a broke ass b***h like you!” He cursed at me and Bertha burst into laughter. “Just wait and see!” I snapped and stormed out of the room. I hurried down the stairs. “Gosh, Chloe, I thought you were going to sleep in there. What happened? Why are you looking so down?” She asked, but I couldn’t answer her. Instead, I rushed out of the house and took to the streets. I wanted to be alone right now. Thunder struck and a heavy downpour followed. I knew I was going to catch a cold, but I didn’t care. Betrayal hurts deeper.
