Chapter 6

6. Chloe's POV My eyes scanned the crowd of businessmen and women, who looked at me like they were hypnotized. I wondered what could be wrong and if there was something on my face or my hair; anything at all that might have caused such stares from them. “This is Chloe Zander, my fiancée. Isn't she pretty?” He asked and they cheered with applause. I smiled softly at them and their claps increased. I felt like they were overdoing it, but suddenly realized that I was no longer in an average world. I was now the fake Fiancée of a multi-billionaire. This is how my life is going to be from now. The thought alone made me sigh in frustration. Soon, the applause died down, the music resumed and Ethan led me down the stage to say hi to his business partners and friends. “Why did you hide such a beautiful lady from us all this while, Mr. Evancho? This is so unfair.” One of the businessmen asked, his eyes roaming my body. I scoffed at the flirty look he was giving me and due to how Ethan's grip on my hand tightened, I could tell he noticed it too. “She is too beautiful, that's why I hid her from the world until I am ready to announce her as my fiancée. I also hid her from everyone to avoid perverts casting flirtatious looks at her. I might not be able to control myself and deal with such misfits.” Ethan responded, his tone harsh a bit. No one needed to tell me he had said that because of him, and the man seemed to get the message because he smiled sheepishly and stylishly walked away. I looked at him, and he smiled at me, causing me to look away instantly. I just wanted all these to be over so he could let go of my hand. I couldn't deny that I was moved by the way he talked to the man. He must have noticed the looks the man gave me were making me uncomfortable and stepped in, but who knows? It could also be pretend. He might have done it to mark his territory, to make them actually believe that I am his Fiancée. “What is your name, sweetie?” An unfamiliar voice spoke from behind us, and we turned to see a woman in her late forties. Her hair was packed into a messy bun, and she smiled at me. “Mrs. Hayes, so glad you could make it. This is Chloe, my fiancée.” He told her and her smile widened. “This is amazing news. You finally got a Fiancée after so much pestering and nagging.” She replied, her smile never leaving her face. “I know, right?” He chuckled and I rolled my eyes internally. As if all this weren't fake. He would literally break their hearts later when they discover it was all just an act. While Ethan spoke to the woman, I used that opportunity to walk around, while slightly bowing at the people who waved at me. I saw Mike and Bertha, standing just in front of me, their arms folded as if waiting for me to come and give them an explanation, but I stopped in my tracks. If they want an explanation, they can come to me by themselves. After all, my status is higher than theirs now. When they saw that I wasn't going to come anytime soon, they stormed to where I stood and Mike threw me a glare. “I knew something was off when you walked into this place with that dress. What did you do behind our backs?” Bertha snapped at me, her glare digging into my neck like she couldn't wait to rip my throat out. “What are you talking about?” I asked, folding my arms above my breasts. “Chloe, how did this happen? How on earth did you become Ethan Evancho's Fiancée? Last time I checked, you were my girlfriend.” Mike said, his expression sad. “Ex-girlfriend; one whom you cheated on and duped.” I answered, but he acted as if he didn't hear what I said. “You've been cheating on me, and you dare put the blame on me?” He asked, suddenly raising his voice as if he wanted the people to hear us. I scoffed at his stupidity. “Why are you so pained, Ex-boyfriend? I did what I had to do. I am his fiancée and there is nothing you or your main chick can do about it. I have my own life now. Go ahead and live yours.” “This isn't fair. You had me as a boyfriend and chose him as your fiancé? Don't tell me you two were dating when we were together.” “I don't have the time to answer your stupid questions, Mike. You should thank your stars I didn't report this case to the police. You would have been in jail by now. You called me a broke ass b***h, right? I will make both of you vomit and swallow your words. You haven't seen anything yet.” I rolled my eyes at them. “Don't think I can't do anything to you because you are Ethan's Fiancée or whatever rubbish he calls you. Mind the way you talk!” Bertha barked and I chuckled. I walked to where she stood and looked into her eyes. “You are welcome to try to do something for me. The door is wide open. Just don't get stuck on your way out.” With that said, I walked away from them and followed Ethan, who was already heading back to the stage. When we got there, he took the mic and spoke into it. “Now is time for the auction. You all know how this works and how I do things. We will start with the biggest and end at the smallest. You are free to bid everything if you'd like. The highest bidder takes the house, okay?” He said, and they all nodded. “Good. The first on our list is a beautiful penthouse. It is newly built but has been furnished. It has different rooms and extra floors, plus a rooftop relaxation spot and swimming pool,” I arched my brows as he talked about the penthouse. The description was the same thing with my penthouse. I sighed and rubbed my palms. I really hope I can get my penthouse back. “Here is a picture of it!” He announced, and the picture came in the projector. The smile on my face died the moment my gaze fixed on the screen. What the heck? That is my penthouse. Wait… I trailed off in my thoughts and my eyes widened at the realization that this son of a f.u.c.k.i.n.g b.i.t.c.h tricked me into handing over my penthouse documents to him and transferring it to his name so he could sell it. And Ethan is helping him auction it? How could he?
