Ethan was taken aback by the hug but he didn't pull away. He felt her warmth and it seemed to calm him down and give him reassurance. He wrapped his hands around her and she leaned into the hug.
“I'm sorry for leaving. I was just overwhelmed and needed somewhere to clear my head.” he explained and Chloe pulled away from the hug.
“I should be the one apologizing. I shouldn't have—”
“Chloe,” Ethan called softly and placed his hand on her shoulders. Chloe looked up at him, her eyes watery. He stopped the tears that was about to roll down her cheeks with his thumb and she smiled at him. “It's fine. Let's forget about that.”
“Promise you aren't going to leave me like this next time.” she pouted, making her look like a baby.
