EPILOGUE
Amino acids became proteins; proteins became cells; cells linked together, and within minutes, a fully-formed skeleton was floating in the pool of organic goo. Muscle tissue came next, along with organs, veins and arteries, neurons, synapses and nerves. Skin covered the body from head to toe, and hair sprouted from its scalp.
Bit by bit, consciousness seeped into his mind. He was angry; it was the first coherent thought he had. Angry, yet satisfied. He became aware of the blissful warmth all around him and felt no immediate desire to leave it. He knew where he was. The pool. Yes, he was submerged, but he didn’t need to breathe in here.
